Mary Dexter, a sister of his, married the Rev. William Payzant, son of the Rev. John Payzant of Falmouth, NS and she and her husband evidently lived in Antigonish for a time, for their daughter Jane, who married Simeon Kempton, of Milton, Queens County, NS, was born in Antigonish, January 2, 1815, and a point of land at or near where the wharf was at Lower Landing, was called Payzant's Point." I checked the 1817 census and John Dexter as well as William Payzant are listed near each other. In checking some of the other names: "Simeon IRISH lived on the north side of Bay Street, his farm and residence being a little west of the site on which St. Martha's Hospital now stands." "(Alexander MacDonald, M.D.)....he married Miss Harrington, purchased a small piece of land from John Dexter, at the junction of the old gulf road with the harbor road." Just a guess on my part -- but I think Payzant Point would be in the vicinity of what is now Antigonish Landing. Hope that helps some, Linda
