Halifax Herald August 5, 2004 van de WIEL, Nella - 95, R.K. MacDonald Nursing Home, Antigonish, formerly of Meadow Green, Antigonish Co., passed away peacefully, August 3, 2004, in the nursing home. Born in Beek Donk, Holland, she was the daughter of the late Petrus and Francisca (Verkuilen) Donkers. In 1950, Nella and her husband, John and their 10 children settled in Nova Scotia. She was a member of the CWL in St. Andrews Parish, St. Andrews, and St. Ninian's Cathedral Parish, Antigonish. Surviving are sons, John (Mellie), Pugwash; Pieter (Clare), Amherst; Tony (Debbie), Tidnish; Joe (Margaret), Albert (Ruth), Henry (Minie), all of Meadow Green; daughters, Sisca (John) Bekkers, Mien (Henry) Bekkers, both of Clydesdale; Rita (Aubrey) Reynolds, Lake Echo; Delia (Jack) MacDonald, McArra's Brook; 43 grandchildren; 53 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, John; son, Henkie; three sisters and six brothers. Visitation will be held from 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Thursday in MacIsaac Funeral Home, 61 Pleasant St., Antigonish. Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in St. Andrews Church, St. Andrews, Rev. Robert Neville officiating. Burial in St. Andrews Cemetery.
