Halifax Herald August 4, 2004 MacGILLIVRAY (Hurlburt), Marie Frances - Northview Drive, Antigonish, passed away peacefully August 2, 2004, in St. Martha's Regional Hospital, after a lengthy illness. Marie was born in Dorchester, Mass., the only daughter of Philip and Jean (McKinlay) Hurlburt, January 4, 1929. The family returned to Yarmouth three years later where Marie completed her elementary education at St. Ambrose Convent School. Later she went to Mount St. Vincent University, Halifax, to complete her studies for a B.A. degree in 1951. She married Jerry, a teacher, in 1952 and moved from Yarmouth to Antigonish in 1956. An excellent classical musician in both piano and voice, she brought a love of music to her family. She sang with a number of choral groups at university, Yarmouth and Antigonish. Marie leaves to mourn her loving husband, Gerald J.; daughters, Margaret, Antigonish; Kathy, Halifax; Maura, East Bay; Barbara (Philip) Dugandzic, Halifax; Sheila (Philip) Wright, Beaver Bank; also surviving are grandchildren, Adam Whalen, Mairi, Anton, Julia and Anna Dugandzic, Isaac, Liam and Christian Wright. She was predeceased by her first daughter, Joanne (Halifax). Liturgy of Christian Burial will be Friday at 2 p.m. in St. Ninian's Cathedral, Rev. Andrew Boyd presiding, reception to follow in St. Ninian Place. Burial in the parish cemetery. Family flowers only, donations to a charity of one's choice. Special thanks to the medical and nursing staff of St. Martha's Hospital and many friends who offered their help and prayers.
