Chronicle Herald March 16, 2007 MATTIE, Alice Jean Annette "Anne" - 62, Heatherton, Antigonish Co., passed away peacefully Thursday, March 15, 2007, in St. Martha's Regional Hospital, surrounded by her loving family and friends. Born in Antigonish, she was a daughter of the late Dan and Annie (Chisholm) Armstrong. Anne was a loving and caring wife, mother and "Nana". She enjoyed playing with her grandchildren, the company of friends and family, her prayer group, CWL, feeding the birds, fresh flowers, "Fashion Frenzies", a good card game and traveling. Her love of sports included softball (Kell's Angels), bowling and washers. Her compassion and selfless caring for others was known by all. She is survived by her loving husband of 43 years, Hugh; sons, James "Jimmy" (Andrea), Heatherton; Gary (Phyllis), Antigonish; daughter, Sonya (Wilfred) Bowie, Afton; grandchildren, Justin, Courtney, Meghan, Dylan, Stephanie, Katie, Anna, Joshua, Jenny, Matthew, and Willie; sisters, Betty Gray, Halifax; Helen (Huntley) Brophy, South Side Harbour; brothers, Kevin (Jackie), North Sydney; Laughie (Catherine), Port Hawkesbury; Don (Mary), Halifax; Billy (Irene), St. Mary's, Ont. She was predeceased by her sister, Rita Chisholm, and brother-in-law, Bill Gray. Visitation in C.L. Curry Funeral Home, 135 College St., Antigonish, on Saturday from 7-9 p.m. and Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral will be held in Immaculate Conception Church, Heatherton, on Monday at 2 p.m. with Rev. Daniel MacDonald presiding. Burial in the parish cemetery. Donations in memory may be made to St. Martha's Palliative Care Society or Victorian Order of Nurses, Antigonish.
