Halifax Herald October 6, 2004 BOUDREAU, Vincent Ellsworth - 89, Antigonish Harbour, Antigonish Co., passed away peacefully, October 4, 2004, at home. Born in Little Dover, Guysborough Co., he was the son of the late Abner and Alice (Horne) Boudreau. Vincent was a well-known sea captain. His love of the sea began at the age of 14 as a mess boy on a steamship, the following year he shipped out of Gloucester, Mass., on a schooner, fishing off the Grand Banks in his earlier years. He fished the waters of Nova Scotia in his boat the "Rita L." for lobster, cod, haddock, herring, mackerel and hake. He was a master story teller about his life at sea, and loved his "Yarns of the Sea". His knowledge of the sea and fishing was shared with many who sought his help, whether a scientist or an ordinary seaman. He was an active and involved member of St. Columba Parish, Lakevale. In 1952, he helped build the Chapel for the summer cottage community of Jimtown. He was a veteran of the Second World War. Surviving are sons, Francis (Beryl), Enfield; Bill (Bernice), Robert (Judy), both of Halifax; Joe (Rose), Antigonish; daughters, Jean (John) Cameron, Antigonish; Kay (Leo) Cameron, Harbour Center; Florence (Jackie) Jesso, Antigonish Harbour; Alice (Gary) Fanning, New Glasgow; Dorothy (Bob) Gillis, Brookside; Joan, Judy, Antigonish Harbour; Gloria, Halifax; 27 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary Challenger, Burlington, Ont.; Rita Boudreau, Florida. He was predeceased by his wife, Mae; five brothers; two sisters. Visitation 7-9 p.m. today, and 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Thursday in MacIsaac Funeral Home, 61 Pleasant St., Antigonish. Funeral 10 a.m. Friday in St. Columba Church, Lakevale. Burial in the parish cemetery. Donations to a charity of choice. www.MacIsaacs.ca
