Born in Fairmont, Antigonish County, he was a son of the late John James "Jack" and Minetta (CAMPBELL) Cameron. He enlisted in the RCA in 1939 and was posted to England in 1942, serving with the 87 Medium Battery RC Artillery. He took part in the invasion of Sicily on July 10, 1943 with the Cape Breton Highlanders. After the end of the war in Italy on April 29, 1945, he fought in Germany. He returned to Canada in June of 1943. He lived in Antigonish for four years then moved to Hamilton where he worked for Westinghouse until his retirement. [photo] FRASER, Mary Kathleen - 87, Falmouth, Massachusetts, died July 9, 2004. Born in Antigonish, she was a daughter of the late Duncan and Katie (LEE) Fraser. She graduated from St. FX in 1936 and moved to Washington, DC during the Second World War to work in the office of the British-American Lend Lease program.After the war, she worked in various capacities for BOAC in NY City. She lived in Florida & Cape Cod upon retirement. She traveled extensively but retained her Canadian citizenship and referred to Antigonish as her first home. [photo] CAMERON, Stanislaus C. - 80, Grande Prairie, Alberta, died July 11, 2004. Born in Antigonish, he was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Cameron. He was a veteran of the Second World War. He was a decorated radioman serving in the UK and Europe. [photo] CONNORS, Nettie - 78, Bayfield, died July 15, 2004. Born in Afton, she was a daughter of the late Francis and Sarah (MYERS) DIGGINS. [photo] McDONALD, Mary Alice - 64, Mulgrave, died July 15, 2004. Born in Guysborough, she was a daughter of the late John Henry and Mary Alice (LONG) ANDREWS. She was a member of Ladies Auxiliary Royal Canadian Legion Branch 37, Cambrai, and the Ladies Auxiliary Mulgrave Volunteer Fire Department. AVERY, Donald James - 70, died July 13, 2004. Born in Larry's River, Guysborough County, he was a son of the late Isaac and Charlotte Avery. Employed for 20 yrs. with Dominion Stores followed by 19 years with Metro Transit. He served as a Eucharistic Minister at St. Michael's Parish where he was a member for 40 years. ROBERTS, Harvey Wallace - 76, Bedford, died July 13, 2004. Born in Canso, he was a son of the Late Wallace and Hilda (GREENCORN) Roberts. WILLIAMS, Leslie Everett - 72, Half Island Cove, died July 16, 2004. Born in Half Island Cove, he was a son of the late Hurbert and Wilda (HENDSBEE) Williams. He was a fish plant worker. DIGGINS, Thelma Charlotte - 79, St. Francis Harbour, Guysborough County, died July 10, 2004. Born in Sand Point, Guys. Co., she was a daughter of the late Edward and May (MILLER) Diggins. COTTAM, M. Evelyn - 87, Providence, RI, died July 4, 2004. Born in James River Antigonish County, she was a daughter of the late Mary A. (MacDONALD) and Alex J. MacDONALD. She had worked for the US Dept. of Agriculture's Consumer & Marketing Services, Dairy Division for 25 years before retiring in 1979. Lived in Providence for 40 yrs. MORINE, June Marion - 70, Steam Mill, Kings County, died July 11, 2004, in Kentville. Born in Half Island Cove, she was a daughter of Edith (HENSBY) Lumsden, Canso, Guys.
