Chronicle Herald August 8, 2007 BRIAND (Stewart), Annie Agnes - 79, former resident of Shirley Street and Northwood Manor, Halifax, died August 5, 2007, in the VG Site, QEII, Halifax, after a difficult battle with cancer. Born June 10, 1928, in College Grant, Antigonish Co., she was a daughter of the late Charles and Elizabeth (MacDonald) Stewart. Anne was the last surviving member of her immediate family, however, she is survived by relatives especially close, her brother-in-law, Bart Briand; sister-in-law, Katherine Stewart, and nephews, Vaughan and Ron Chisholm and Aubrey LeBlanc. As well, she is survived by many other nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Valma; brothers, Ronald, John Isaac, Danny, Charles, Hugh; sisters, Katie Chisholm, Jenny MacInnis, Grace Chisholm, and Mamie Chisholm. Anne retired after many years in housekeeping at Camp Hill Hospital and Dalhousie University. She will be remembered for her love of family and her great smile which captured the hearts of all who met her. Cremation has taken place. Visitation 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Sunday, August 12, in Cruikshank's Halifax Funeral Home, 2032 Robie St. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Monday, August 13, in St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Halifax.
