    3. Chronicle Herald June 4, 2007 PAUL, Matilda - 94, Paq'tnkek First Nation, Afton, Antigonish Co., passed away on June 2, 2007, in St. Martha's Regional Hospital. Born in Pictou Landing, she was a daughter of the late William and Mary (Paul) Sylliboy. She worked for many families in the Antigonish area as a nanny and housekeeper. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, Heatherton and St. Ann's Church, Summerside Road. She was a recipient of the Donald Marshall Sr. Elder Award in recognition and appreciation for outstanding contribution to the Mi'kmaq community and Nova Scotia. She also received an award from the Nova Scotia Department of Community Services in recognition of her role as a foster parent. She was the eldest community member of the Paq'tnkek First Nation. She is survived by daughters, Mary Freda Simmons, Paq'tnkek First Nation; Rose Julian (Robert) and Phyllis (John) Prosper, Waycobah First Nation; Delores and Mary Ann Paul, Paq'tnkek First Nation; sons, Harold Andrew Sr., Brad and John Wayne Paul, all of Paq'tnkek First Nation; David Francis, Sydney; 35 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Benjamin; foster son, Darryl Sylliboy; foster daughter, Patsy Bernard (Paul); sisters, Helen, Roszina, Nancy, Mary, Elizabeth and Kathryn; brothers, Michael, Frank, Stephen, Peter, Noel, Martin, Paul Joseph and Daniel; half-brothers, Leo Sylliboy (Eskasoni) and Ben Sylliboy (Mill Brook First Nation). Visitation will be in the family home, 19 Saqamaw Rd., Paq'tnkek First Nation, after noon today. Funeral mass will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church, Heatherton, with Rev. Dan MacDonald presiding. Burial in St. Ann Cemetery, Summerside Road.
