    3. Mary E. Burton, 81, formerly of the 9200 block of Atwood Ave, Norfolk, Virginia, died peacefully on July 7, 2004. Mary leaves to cherish her memory three sons, Robert L. Burton, Jr., of Chesapeake, VA, William Wilmot Burton of W. Melbourne, FL, Mark Burton and his wife Kathy of Norfolk, VA; and five daughters, Ellen Cameron and her husband Gordon of Elizabeth City, NC, Monica Yurkovic and her husband Vic of Norfolk, VA, Regis Scott and her husband Bill of W. Melbourne, FL, Marcey Burton of Chesapeake, VA and her fiance' Skip Hunter, and Nan Burton of Norfolk, VA. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Mark Burton, Jr., James, Bailey, Paul, and Robert Scott, and Amber Daughterty She was pre-deceased by her husband of 44 years, Robert L. Burton Sr., BMC, U.S. Navy, (Ret.), and her son, Bruce Joseph Burton. A native of Boston, MA, she was the daughter of William "Billy" Wilmot and Jenette Chisholm Wilmot of Antigonish, Nova Scotia. Mary served as a Pharmacist's Mate First Class in the USNR(WR) from 1944 to 1947, receiving both the American Theater Campaign Award and the WWII Victory Medal. While in the Navy, Mary met and married her husband in 1949, and moved to Norfolk. In 1963, the family moved to Ocean View, where they resided for over thirty years. Mary was a long-time member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Norfolk, and served as a volunteer in the parish Food Pantry for several years. She also volunteered for Meals on Wheels, St. Mary's Infant Home, and the Norfolk Zoo. She was an active member of the Bayview Seniors Club, and enjoyed her dogs, reading, quilting, traveling and Atlanta Braves baseball. The family wishes to thank the staff at Pinewood Assisted Living Facility for the exceptional care they provided our mother. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 10, 2004, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church Chapel with Fr. David McGuire officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Holy Trinity Catholic Church Food Pantry, 155 W. Government Ave., Norfolk, VA 23503. She was a good and loving mother.
