    3. Halifax Herald February 17, 2005 CARPENTER, Joseph Paul - 84, Havre Boucher, passed away peacefully February 15, 2005, at his home. Born in Havre Boucher, he was a son of the late Charles and Virginia (Fougere) Carpenter. He was a veteran of the Second World War having served in England joining the 5th Armoured Division in North Africa, Italy, France, Belgium, Holland and Germany. He worked at various jobs throughout his life including, on the SS Scotia and at carpentry, but his passion was the sea where, for many years, he could be found aboard his boat the "NorWester". He loved life and being with people. Much joy was brought to him when he was in the presence of his little grandchildren. He will be sadly missed by his wife, Audrey (Webb); daughters, Paula Allston, Vancouver; Alicia Vink, Frankville; Janis Carpenter, Dartmouth; grandson, Nicholas (Jessica) Vink, Cape Jack; granddaughters, Audrie-Jo Vink, Truro; Kirstin Vink, Halifax; great-grandchildren, Ocean and Jillian; sisters, Bernice Webb, Antigonish; Bernadette MacDonald, Dartmouth; foster sister, Mary Jean Bouchie, Cape Jack. He was predeceased by a daughter, in her youth, Mona; brother, Stanley; sister, Hazel DeYoung, and son-in-law, Theodore Vink. Visitation will be in the MacGillivray Room, St. Paul's Church, Havre Boucher, today from 7-9 p.m. and Friday from 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Funeral will be held on Saturday at 2 p.m. in St. Paul's Church, Havre Boucher, with Rev.
