Hi List, I have received permission to transcribe the records from St. Joseph's parish, Antigonish County (pre-1904 only), and began that process in January. It is a long and slow process as I have to make the trip to Lochaber where the records are being kept. Also, this is winter in Nova Scotia. When completed the transcribed records will be available in Excel format from the Museum. I have started with Baptism's and they begin in November of 1859. The parish at that time covered an area including Marshy Hope, James River, Addington Forks, Beaver Meadow, Ashdale, Gaspereaux Lake, Glen Road, the Ohio's, St. Joseph's, Keppoch, Ireland, Lochaber, Copper Lake, Sherbrooke, and Wine Harbour. As I complain about all the snow this winter I imagine Fr. MacGillivray on horseback making his rounds over such a large territory. I have over 500 baptisms up to January 1873 completed. If you are looking for a baptism/birth from St. Joseph's during that time period (and you're willing to be patient) I will try to help you out.
