Does anybody have any information about the ancestry of former Prime Minister Charles Joseph 'Joe' CLARK? I have a few hints that he is descended from M(a)cDON(N)EL(L)s from Dunmore in Antigonish County, but can't seem to run much down online. The McDONNELLs in Dunmore are descended from McDONNELLs in Nine Mile River. He briefly represented Kings and Hants counties in Parliament in 2000. Hi all - In August, my husband and I made our annual trek from Ontario to Nova Scotia to visit family - after almost 20 years away, Nova Scotia is still "home". With all the visiting that is required around the province I virtually never get to do any genealogy research during our vacations. This year however I pledged to make it back to my grandfather's (Charles Inglis) birthplace - Lochaber. I had not been back there for about 35 years so it was a real treat. The farm site is now overgrown and almost unrecognizable. The day was rainy but my brother (who lives in Pictou) and I trudged through the trees and shrubs to "steal" a piece of the rock foundation to take home with me - sorry Uncle Farlie !! We spent some time in the North Lochaber Cemetery where it appears we are related to practically everyone. Have some good shots of headstones for my database ! It was a great visit and well worth the trip. Would have liked to have had time to visit some of the local "cousins" I have touched base with online but things did not work out - oh well, there is always next year .......maybe I'll book a room at Marleen's in Antigonish .......
