I don't have time to do a lot of research on this at the moment, but Father (later Bishop) William FRASER emigrated to the Antigonish area in 1822, and the church was at least minimally established in the area by then, moreso a bit further east on Cape Breton. (Arichat was the nominal seat of the diocese until 1886.) A few more details: http://catholic-hierarchy.org/diocese/danti.html http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/01562c.htm http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/07117b.htm Which Saint Margaret's Church? And do you know your MacDONALD family's nickname? My wife has McBride ancestors from the St Andrew's area.
