Chronicle Herald May 21, 2007 KENNEDY, Hazel Naomi - 92, it is with great sadness that we the family of the late Hazel Naomi Kennedy announce her passing in St. Martha's Regional Hospital on Friday May 18, 2007. Born in Port Shoreham, March 14, 1915, she was the only daughter of the late Henry and Bertha (Campbell) Richardson. Following her marriage to John Kennedy, she lived in Ogden, Guysborough Co., until his death in 1988, moved to St. Andrews, Antigonish Co., to live with her daughter Mary MacDonald. She spent the last two years as a resident of R.K. MacDonald Guest House in Antigonish. She was known for her enjoyment of playing cards and bingo games with family and friends. She has left a legacy of her talents to her children as a quilter, rug hooker and avid knitter with many of her handwork pieces shown at Sherbrooke Village. She was a member of St. Thomas Roman Catholic Church, Salmon River. She is survived by sons, Joseph (Annabelle), Giants Lake; Bernard, Truro; John(Pauline) and Gregory (Gertie), both of Frasers Mills; William, Ogden; daughters, Rose (Malcolm) Reid, Kingston, Ont.; Mary MacDonald, St. Andrews; Bertha Chisholm, North Ogden; Nina (Raymond) Halloran, Guysborough; Sheila MacDonald, Stoney Plain, Alta.; Florence (Buddy) Murphy and Phyllis (Melvin) MacDonald, both of Lochaber; Ann Marie (Brian) MacHattie, Copper Lake; special nephew, James (Catherine) Kennedy; 38 grandchildren; 34 great- grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law, Ruth Richardson, Guysborough; Jean Richardson, Lower River Inhabitants, Cape Breton. She was predeceased by husband, John Daniel; daughter, Julia Budgell; two children in infancy; brothers, Joe, Johnny, Harry, Gilbert and Charlie; sister-in-law, Ann; sons-in-law, Rod MacDonald, Fred Chisholm and Allan B. MacDonald; daughter-in-law, Joyce Kennedy; nephews, Austin and Tommy Richardson. Visitation will be held today from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Guysborough. Mass of Christian Burial will be held in St. Thomas Church, Salmon River, 11 a.m. Tuesday, Father Robert Day officiating. Burial in the parish cemetery. Family flowers only please.
