    1. Death Donald Chisholm? Antigonish
    2. Jennifer Jorgensen
    3. Hello to the list. I am writing from Australia, I am searching for anything that will lead me to the life and death of Donald CHISHOLM, born in Inverness to William Chisholm, Comar, Inverness. He died I think, 12 NOvember 1843 Antig Harbour. He was not Catholic and his sister Jane (jean) changed her religion to marry one John FRASER. Sister was Jane or JEAN, FRaser (nee Chisholm) married to John Fraser= their son was William Fraser, the Roman Catholic Priest of ARICHAT (rather famous I think?) If anyone is aware of this line of has any facilities to help me prove Donald's family (wife and Children etc) I would be so very grateful. Very kind regards Jen from OZ

Without actually looking it up, I seem to recall that the bishop's mother came over and died in Nova Scotia. I have a bit more on the family of Bishop Fraser: "Bishop Fraser, who was the son of John and Jane (Chisholm) Fraser, had eight brothers and one sister. The sister, Jean, married Donald Chisholm..."[1] I quoted this at more length in the post mentioned above. [1] MacLean, Raymond A, editor. (Johnston, (Rev) A(ngus) A(nthony) and others, author). As far as I know, there was no 'University of Antigonish'; the school there is St Francis Xavier (School|College|University) - http://www.stfx.ca/ There was a history of the school written about a decade back: For the people: A history of St. Francis Xavier University by James D. Cameron Hardcover - 551 pages (October 3, 2003) Language: English McGill-Queens University Press ; ISBN: 077351385X It's available at amazon.ca; I imagine your library could interlibrary loan it for you. The website for the college itself is http://www.stfx.ca/ The last I knew, James D Cameron was teaching in the history department there. The main communities of women religious in the Antigonish diocese were (and still are) the Sisters of Saint Martha (http://www.themarthas.com/main/main.html) and the Congregation of Notre Dame (http://www.cnd-m.com/English2/HomeMain.htm). The website for the Diocese of Antigonish is (http://www.antigonishdiocese.com/title.htm) Somewhere amongst them, you should be able to come up with something. Good luck!
