Hi Vince, Thanks. We've talked about my brick wall before. As were the Barra McNeils my McNeils were Catholic. A shame the last male McNeil from this line died in 1935. They were Prolific creators of females. My male line is "Miller" and I am tested At Family Tree DNA for that line. There are 2 Female McNeil children >From this line still living, both in their 90's., but my understanding Is testing them will give their mother's heritage and none of their McNeil Father's. My Alex Peter McNeil was born abt 1837 (depending on source) at Malignant. Malignant being a distinctive place name I feel is probably correct. In Rankins History there is an Alexander descendant of John Black and does not indicate what happened to him, it also lacks Date references. In any case I think this begs a field trip and the more I learn about Nova Scotia the more I want to make this happen. Bye now, Steve Miller -----Original Message----- From: can-ns-antigonish-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:can-ns-antigonish-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Vincent MacNeil Sent: Sunday, February 11, 2007 5:54 PM To: can-ns-antigonish@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [Antigonish] Modest request about replies to list Hello Steve, A descendant of John "Black" MacNeil has tested with the MacNeil DNA project at Family Tree DNA and this individual is in the Barra R1b1 group. This signature is relatively rare and seems to be found primarily among the MacNeils of Barra. This gives strong evidence that John "Black' MacNeil was a Barra man. Looking for dates or any other information on this Fraser line Alexander and Marion Campbell Fraser’s children all born Beauly, Invernesshire, Scotland came on the Hector, daughter Katherine who married 2nd husband John Fraser Esq. they only had one son that I know of David born about 1796 NS married his 1st cousin Elizabeth Fraser born about 1880 NS, daughter of Alexander and Mary MacDonald Fraser. If anyone would know of David and Elizabeth other children and any dates of these children, where and when David and Elizabeth died? One of their children is Walter Smith Fraser b: abt 1833 NS supposedly died about 1901 NS could not find him in the 1901 census and his wife Harriet Elizabeth Wilcox is not listed as a widow in that census and is staying with her daughter Bessie (Elizabeth Ann) husband Josephus Howard and their daughter Maude DeHarker Howard b: 30 Jan 1890 in Boston, MA, died young maybe in NS? Harriet Wilcox b: 06 Jul 1836 in Liverpool, England, met Walter in Australia where they married and Bessie was born there. They returned to NS before their next child was born these are their other children all born NS, Minnie b: Abt. 1865 married Alexander MacLeod abt: 1878, Maude b: Abt. 1868, Allister Culton b: 23 Feb 1867 married Janet Allen Wilson, John b: 01 Jan 1872, Annie R. b: 22 Oct 1875 died Jan 1968 Boston. David Albert b: 15 Jul 1867 died 02 Jun 1908 Worcester, MA married 15 Jun 1892, Cambridge, Middlesex, MA to Nora Steeves b: 10 Mar 1871, Hillsborough, NB, died 28 Oct 1912, Cambridge, Middlesex, MA both buried in Cawles Memorial Cem., Ipswich, Essex, MA they had 2 sons my grandfather Alister and great uncle Walter. One of Walter Smith Fraser’s brother was Alexander David who married a Mary, their daughter Bessie (Elizabeth) b: 1860 married George L. Revaleon 04 Aug 1883, Boston, MA encase anyone is looking for information on her. Both Bessie’s and Annie R. all lived together in the Boston area after their husbands died. We do know that Annie R. Fraser died in Boston and never married, we assume both Bessie’s did as well. Again any information on this line would be so appreciated Thank you Wanda of ME -- No virus found in this outgoing message. Checked by AVG Free Edition. Hi there: Curious too, as to why when you hit reply, the reply goes to the list and not just to the sender. The NS list is set up that if you hit "Reply" it just goes to the poster, and then if you hit "Reply All" it goes to the list. This would cut down on unnecessary traffic. I very rarely reply to the entire list, just to the poster, unless I know it is something many people want to hear about. Nothing I have to say is usually that important though ;-) If the system were set up like that then you wouldn't have to stop and remove the list address and enter in the sender's address. I'm not sure how to go about making that change. It seems to have been changed to this way when Rootsweb did changes in the Fall?? Just a thought.... cheers Rose Joe Makowiec wrote: > I've noticed recently a number of replies to the list, particularly > to the obituary postings.
