    3. John: We are interested in your book. Does it have any Barns or Barnes in it. We are told our ancester Nathaniel Barns (Barnes) was given a bio in one of the Annapolis books, together with a photo or rendering of the original family home. He mirgated with his wife Annis ___and several member of his family from ME, in about 1758, and died in Ann. 1785. Now I don't want to blow my own horn at this time, but I have listed in that book some valuable sources to read: 1.) the Calnek book you mentioned (he himself was a Hessian descendant of the Quartermaster Jacob Calnek, lot 11 Hessian line) 2.) and even better: Ira Maxwell Sutherland, his Thesis: Hessians in Annapolis County" (my source #124) and his other Thesis: "Clements Township, its history and its people" (my source #126), and last not least: 3.) "Heritage remembered, the story of Bear River" by E.Foster Hall. By golly, I almost forgot, there is one more, but more general for Nova Scotia: "This Unfriendly Soil" The Loyalist Experience in Nova Scotia 1783-1791, by Neil MacKinnon, Forgive me if I didn't mention Wintrop Bell's - The Foreign Protestants and the Settlemnet of Nova Scotia, but everybody knows that one.
