    3. Hi: We are looking for Barnes, Armstrong, Chute, Milbury, Mills, Phillips, Ray, Shaw, Young. Our Nathaniel Barnes and Annis came to Annap. County, circa 1760, settling in what was then Granville. with them were two of fours sons, and four daughters. The above family names are related. Any information would be appreciated. Eugene V. I asked an older family member about the Hatfield House & she remembers the building being referred to as the Lockhart House in the mid-1900's. As I remember, The "old" Middleton Hospital was across from Middleton Regional High School, & was used until 1961-62, when the present Soldiers Memorial Hospital was built. In Your Sept 17 posting, you mentioned (Frank) Crouse, Did he ever live in Nictaux Falls,? (South of Middleton.) Much appreciated if you do. (I am also researching CROUSE/LOCKHART/BARKHOUSE/ROBAR lines.) Albert J. Hatfield, born 12 Apr 1848, lived in Middleton according to the 1901 Census. Albert ran a hotel, Hatfield House, built in the early 1890s and located right across from the old DAR station in Middleton. The hotel was later converted into apartments and run or owned by my step-grandfather, James H. Lockhart, and my grandmother, Janett (Barkhouse)Lockhart. I grew up in that building, thus my interest. It was burned down as part of a firefighter training exercise in the 1980s. James H. was the night watchman at the Scotian Gold apple processing plant. The Annapolis Valley MacDonald Museum has been very helpful in searching old copies of the Middleton Outlook but hasn't been able to turn up very much info about Hatfield House. I would like to learn more about the history of the building - exactly when it was built and by whom, a history of its ownership, when it was converted to apartments, etc. I wonder if anyone here knows anyone who might have further knowledge of this building. Someone, for example, who knows the history of hotels in Middleton. Any and all info, references and suggestions would be most welcome and appreciated.
