I don't know how far back in history this goes. But, I was wondering if the "Building Department" of the town or city you are asking about would have records of the Hatfield House when someone first asked to build it. And, what some people forget is that, around here, the Building Departments and/or the Department of Public Works keeps track of every street and road in the town. So, sometimes, if you're trying to find a street where an ancestor used to live (which might have had its name changed), calling "town hall" might get you an answer to your question.
