    3. I am afraid my Annapolis search is very vague and has produced very little. I am interested in any information on the families of a Catherine GOLDSMITH who was married to an Owen LYNCH. I do not know for certain that they were natives of Nova Scotia but their daughter Suzannah LYNCH ( born c1832) married 1 January 1852 at Annapolis John PATERSON who was in a detachment of the 42nd Regiment (Black Watch) stationed there. They left soon after that for England where John went off to fight in the Crimean War. This family eventually migrated to Australia. The LYNCHES in Nova Scotia may have had a sheep farm according to oral tradition. Suzannah was reputed to be an excellent horsewoman. There may have been connections with Boston in USA according to oral tradition. Suzannah was supposed to have had a relative who had a glassworks in a place called Copelands (? William Lynch Glassworks) in USA. I have been unable to locate a Copelands so far .. perhaps it no longer exists. Anne Maye in Oz.

    3. Hello Anna:- Have you tried census records? Check the following http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~downhome/nscensus.html There are various years posted -- but others on GenWeb. Also, the LYNCH and GOLDSMITH names are/were prominent in Dartmouth, Halifax County. Muriel M. 1. [ANNAPOLIS] An Invitation to a Census Mail List
    2. Muriel M. Davidson
    3. SPECIAL INVITATION TO GENEALOGISTS, RESEARCHERS To all:- Members of the Canada Census Committee have been working with Senator Lorna Milne as she works to obtain safe passage of Bill S-13, a government bill. As a government bill, it should not be dumped "by the wayside" should there be an election, or should Parliament be prorogued. There are many happenings, and other readers of mail lists become tired of census postings -- these are NOT political -- but laws can only be changed in Ottawa. Census records are a genealogy basis! I want the 1911, 1916 and even later census records IN FULL! An invitation is extended to subscribe to our own mail list CANADA-CENSUS-CAMPAIGN-L-request@rootsweb.com Only one word to be used subscribe [Should you wish Digest format, change the L to a D] Gordon A. Watts is listowner -- also keeps the scoreboards!! The list is one where "personal opinions" may be aired, without knuckles being rapped! All genealogists and researchers should belong to this mail list. Everyone is welcome!! Muriel M. 1. [ANNAPOLIS] Post-1901 Census -- A Tip of the Hat to TWO New Golden Politicians!
    2. Muriel M. Davidson
    3. To all:- Gordon Watts has posted updates as of March 11, 2003 to the two scoreboards Senate: http://www.globalgenealogy.com/Census/Senscore1.htm House of Commons: http://www.globalgenealogy.com/Census/Index6.htm Two new GOLDEN symbols appear Senator Lowell Murray dumped his old RED X -- see Ontario Brian Pallister changed from an Undecided to GOLD - Manitoba Hand-written LETTERS have brought a few results -- NO E-MAILS! I wrote the letter, except for name of Senator, had these printed at Staples, filled in the name, in an envelope and mailed. Others have been received -- but only an assistant stating he or she would "bring the matter to the attention of ??????" ONE Member of the Senate - Sen. Gerald Comeau - representing NOVA SCOTIA -- is the only Senator who has not replied. Two Members of Parliament must be attached to the RED X symbols -- The Hon. Dr. Rey Pagtakhan (Manitoba) and Roy Cullen of Etobicoke in Ontario. House of Commons Totals as of March 11, 2003:- GOLD ...... 185 Members of Parliament RED........... 2 " " " GREEN...... 57 " " " BLUE ???... 54 " " " Senate Totals as of March 11, 2003:- GOLD........42 Senators RED.......... 1 " GREEN..... 20 " BLUE ? ...35 " I will be sending 113 LETTERS to Members of Parliament after Third Reading. While in Toronto I mailed to Senators and more replies could be received. Notes of Thanks would be welcomed by GOLD Members of either House of Parliament - I have already written to my Member of Parliament and as for Senator -- mine is Senator Lorna Milne -- with gratitude for a tough job! Please post any replies you may have cluttering up your desks -- Gordon and I play the NUMBERS game! Your letters are the only way changes can be made -- if YOUR politician, we will accept abstracts of phone calls. One Senator I really want is Senator Jerahmiel Grafstein -- search for his name -- he has worked very hard -- except does not answer letters. Muriel M. 3. Good point John Would anyone on the list have paper records of cemetaries not published on: http://www.rootsweb.com/~nsannapo/cemeteries.html I don't have that content, but I can create a web page from a written record. I'm offering to transcribe some cemetary records if there is permission to publish them on the internet. My area of interest would be Clementsvale -> Bear River. If more information about Annapolis co. was published (to add to the excellent work already done), it should lead to more connections. 1. [ANNAPOLIS] Access to 1906 Census records
    2. Muriel M. Davidson
    3. Greetings All. Since our announcement this morning regarding the immediate release of 1906 Census records we have had a number of reports of people experiencing difficulty accessing the records. We can only assume from reports received that the number of people attempting to access the records could be swamping the website. Considering the number of subscribers to the Global Gazette, and the number of mail lists to which Muriel and I post directly, a conservative estimate of the numbers that have known about the website since shortly after it opened this morning would be 40,000 people. Add to this the readers of mail lists to which others forward our posts, and you could have a great many people trying to get access at the same time. We suggest that if you experience difficulty accessing the 1906 records, just wait awhile, or wait until tomorrow, and try again. Traffic at the website is likely to be very heavy, at least for the next few days. We have been waiting for this access for a long time. A day or two more won't hurt. Happy Hunting. Gordon A.
