    3. Christina I haven't seen anyone else discussing McKeowns. Rebecca Hodges b 1840 m William McKeown s/o John McKeown. Daughter Minnie Blanche m Charles C. Clearn and James Clarence Young. Daughter Hattie McKeown m Daniel Balcom. Son Charles McKeown m Annie Florence?? They were in the Lawrencetown, Middleton, Morrison areas, and I have more details if you are interested. William apparently had siblings John, Alice, and Emma. I don't know the siblings or parents of William's father, John, and don't have the names you listed. Let me know if you want me to send you the details that I have. My ancestor is Rebecca's brother Jonathan Hodges. He hated going to Europe and fighting the Germans because his neighbors at home were German farmers, but he did his duty. "Cousins" Charles N. McKeown and his nephew William Harland Balcom, of the Middleton NS area, died in WWI. I found them at http://www.collectionscanada.ca/02/02010602_e.html Andrew P. Felton, injured in the Civil War - his granddaughter Josie married Frank D. Hodges of Morristown NS. No history book or movie made this war "real" to me until I visited Gettysburg and other battle sites. Ancestor Oliver Perham, who fought in the American Revolutionary War - and also recognizing those who because of the strength of their Loyalist convictions, chose to move north to Canada. She has had a death in the family, and will return to her lists as soon as she returns and is up to it. In the meantime, I am watching over things, so please let me know if I can be of any help. 3. Emma shows up in the 1881 census on the Hessian Line, Annapolis Co. with Edward "Thomas" Wagner and Lucinda (Lucy) Sophia Knock. It is presumed that Emma is their child. Edward and Lucy were married Nov 3 1870 in New Canada. Thomas married a second time to Sarah Kezia on Jan 3 1884 so it is presumed Lucy died before 1884. Can anyone provide any more information on Emma? Thanks in advance, Arlene (Wagner) granddaughter of Thomas

    3. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Gordon A. Watts" <gordon_watts@telus.net> To: "Canada Census Campaign" <CANADA-CENSUS-CAMPAIGN-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, September 24, 2004 3:39 PM Subject: Post 1901 Census - Information Commissioner responses Greetings All. I contacted the office of the Information Commissioner this morning. In a message received from Mr. Reid on 17 September he indicated that he felt his responses to our complaints against Statistics Canada should be in the mail by the end of this week (i.e. today). While responses to others may now be in the mail I learned that the response to my own complaint was not. This may be because my name is somewhat down the line alphabetically, but this is simply speculation on my part. My normal contact when I call is currently on vacation and I was advised by the 'duty investigator' that the process of my own complaint was 'not yet completed'. He indicated he would have someone check further on my complaint next week next week and they would advise me as to the current status. I requested that when my response was mailed that they fax me a copy as well. Assuming that others lower in line alphabetically may now have their responses in the mail, should anyone receive their response early next week I would greatly appreciate it if they would fax a copy of it to me at 604-942-6843. This morning I received a message from John M. Reid, Information Commissioner of Canada. He indicated that he anticipates signing his findings regarding our complaints against Statistics Canada next week. He indicated that there were over 90 complaints, and that while there were similarities, there were also differences to be dealt with in each finding. 3. Does everyone know about the Automated Genealogy site at http://automatedgenealogy.com/census/index.html This is basically an index to the 1901 Canada census - I found it a while back but haven't seen many references to it in other queries. There are different ways to search, but a simple way is just by last name (remember the various spelling possibilities), and then by first name. If you find the name in the index, a click will take you to the actual image. This index has the name, location, marital status, family relationship, and DOB. Susan

    1. Lowerison in NB and Kentville NS query
    2. Susan Burns
    3. Sorry for the X-post. I am hoping someone might know something about the following.... Posted as a query on my website: Keep up the good work ! I hope that you can give me some advice. After 4 months work I have finally found my father brother ,grandfather etc. All are buried in Oak Grove cemetery Kentville. The mystery is that they all died together and must have been involved in some accident , perhaps it was recorded in a newspaper of the time. could you give me any leads or webs. that could help me further? Many thanks Eloise. She sent further info: Harold Stuart Lowerison (only son of Harold Stephen Lowerison) born 1912 in Sackville N. B. Married Annie Bertha Copp in Westmorland 1938. died ? buried with his son Richard (step-brother) and his own mother Caroline Anne Kaye on 12th July 1952. I should think that because he died so young and so long ago (pre-dating computers ) would be why I found so little about him after 4 months rigorous searching. According to my mother he was going to be a lawyer and he certainly passed out with honours from Mt. A. university in 1935. ========= but ==== I found a Stuart Lowerison scholarship there and I presume that he dedicated it . According to my birth cert. he was a flight lieut. in the RAF and a qualified lawyer. I have not confirmed either, but i think he became a lecturer in Biology, Law or French. This is a hunch because those two subjects were my favs. at school and in fact I went on to become a botanist. Thanx in advance for any info.... SueB
