I am researching Andrew HENDERSON, school master in Bridgetown and Annapolis Royal (1820 to 1864); post master and journal writer. Am trying to trace his FOSTER grandchildren of the Bridgetown area and the HARDWICK children and grandchildren of Annapolis. Would appreciate any and all contact with family to update his family tree for a great-grandson. Karl: I don't know if you have this information or not. In the Ward Chipman papers, of which they have a copy at the Public Archives in Halifax, there is a Muster Roll of Discharged Officers and Disbanded Soldiers and Loyalists that was taken in the County of Annapolis between the 18th and 24th days of June, 1784. On this listing, is Edward Talbot, showing one man, one woman and three children under the age of ten. He is listed as a loyalist, and that he settled at Granville. He does not appear in the Granville Township Book. Ric
Thanks to all who responded to my request. The abstracts were interesting but unfortunately no luck. The cemetery listings, on NS web page, did not contain any information on Edward Talbot. I did find some cemetery listings on LDS and I will be ordering those films. I am sure that Edward Talbot died before 1800 - his widow and children were back in NY by then and in the late 1800s, someone made extensive copies of pages from Edward's journal which tells me that the journal went to NY with the family. Although Edward's wife was of the Dutch Reformed faith, I believe Edward was Church of England. The LDS tapes I am ordering have transcriptions from cemeteries for a couple of the churches in Annapolis, if anyone knows of any other transcriptions anywhere, please let me know. Thank you very much. Karl MacEachron Fresno CA
I will do whay ever day I go yo yje library this week which shouls be tomorrow Luella
Luella So nice of you. Thank you Ruth
Am seeking information about my great grandparents Jacob and Jannetje Swaan or their stay in Selma. They settled in Selma, Nova Scotia in April, 1915, coming from the Netherlands They resided on a dairy farm with an orchard for about 2 years and then moved to Saskatchewan. Thank you Delores Saskatoon, Saskatchewan
Just looked quickly at Annaplis GenWeb and he's not in the cemetery but try looking at Abstracts from the Court of Probate Records for Annapolis County, Nova Scotia by Wayne W Walker at http://www.widomaker.com/~gwk/abstract.htm You might find his will. You might want to try the Loyalist mailing list. There is a lot published- mostly lists -of Loyalists who were given land in Canada after the revloution. "Loyalist Lineages of Canada" is a book published by UEL Association and has lists of Loyalists lineages researched by some descendants. You might find him there if someone else researched that line. Online at ourroots.ca is the following book that has a list of Loyalists The whole book is searchable. Look in the Appendix: "The centennial of the settlement of Upper Canada by the United Empire Loyalists, 1784-1884 : the celebrations at Adolphustown, Toronto, and Niagara ; with an appendix containing a copy of the U.E. list, preserved in the Crown Lands Department at Toronto" Also the Annapolis GenWeb has many of the cemeteries transcribed in a database and it is searchable by last name. Maybe you can find him there. Hello, Hoping to find some CROSSKILL researchers. My many times removed Great Aunt, Charlotte FILLIS, married Capt John CROSSKILL abt 1785 - but WHERE? Jenny in AUS
Hello list-- I am new to this list. I thought all my RAND, PARKER, SCHOFIELD, and THOMPSON ancestors were from Kings, but it seems that my Parkers and Thompsons may spent time in Annapolis, especially Wilmot. I am seeking the parents of Susan Parker (b. ~1805) and Elijah Thompson (b. ~ 1796). They married (probably baptist) about 1825 and had the following children: John Parker Thompson Shubael Dimmick Thompson Robert Hibbert Thompson (b. 1838) Marshall Thompson (died young) Family lore says that Elijah and his father Israel settled near Billtown, Cornwallis Twp, Kings, and that Susan came "from over the mountain," meaning North Mountain. This could mean Harbourville, Black Rock, or Halls Harbour in Cornwallis. If anyone has suggestions on how I might track them down, I would be very grateful. Rand Costich Rockville, Maryland, USA
Could they have spent time in Lun Co.? See: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~downeast/1TAR.htm Lots of Thompsons and Parkers there. Priscilla I am new to this list.
