    1. [ANNAPOLIS] Post-1901 Census -- Happy Thanksgiving!! A Great Legacy???
    2. Muriel M. Davidson
    3. To all:- Happy Thanksgiving to all who celebrate a special family holiday tomorrow -- however, some of us observe two Thanksgivings -- one Canadian, one American. As families gather and remember other family members, this is a great opportunity to obtain signatures to PROVE that we, as Canadians and others with Canadian roots, would like Prime Minister Jean Chretien to present all of us with the Post-1901 census records as a lasting legacy. Petitions continue to arrive daily and by Friday, I should have sufficient to tabulate for Senator Lorna Milne. As you prepare the turkey and pumpkin pies, prepare the petitions for all family members to sign. Downloadable from http://www.globalgenealogy.com/Census/Petition.htm Canadians and Snowbirds with Canadian permanent addresses use the House of Commons and Senate petitions, in either language. Non-Canadians, from any country, use the Non-Resident. Please do not mix American and Canadian addresses -- this has happened before and I have to make a choice and mark off ones that were mixed in. Sorry -- I tried to draw a turkey that would pass Rootsweb!! A bit more practice -- might succeed by Christmas!! Happy signing!!! Senator Lorna Milne and Murray Calder need this type of PROOF!! 3. Hello list, I just checked the list archives, and found this message http://archiver.rootsweb.com/th/read/CAN-NS-ANNAPOLIS/2002-11/1036874736 In answer to it, there is a little book out by Marion Gilroy, Publicc Archives of Nova Scotia - titled Loyalists and Land Settlement, it shows on page 8 under land grants for Annapolis County: BOLTENHOUSE, Bedford, 100 acres at Wimot Ts., 1785. Another thing, dear new listowner (administrator), please change that particular tagline, and insert your e-mail addy in place of mine. Thanks John Merz.

    2. Muriel M. Davidson
    3. To all desirous of 1911 Census Records!!! Before we began this "fight" to obtain the release of 1906 and 1911 census records, I found these as a basis of my genealogical research -- incomplete church records could often be corrected by peering at microfiche -- last available one is 1901!! SIGNATURES on Petitions are the only PROOF we are able to offer that WE need and want the 1906 and 1911 census records released for YOUR research -- and for mine! Let's fill Senator Lorna Milne's briefcase next weekend -- I deliver them to her -- Sen. Milne takes them to Ottawa! Please DO NOT give to another Senator -- we like playing "the numbers game" -- looking for many more signatures! Muriel M. 1. [ANNAPOLIS] Lets stop this desicration of graves in its tracks
    2. To Whom it May Concern;         I am the descendant of a person interred at the Hudson County Burial Grounds located in Secaucus, New Jersey. The New Jersey Turnpike Authority wants to move all 3,500 remains into a common grave. I do not believe the public has been notified of this topic enough. I have started a petition to help show support of the public being against this matter. Our online petition as well as our paper petition has been circulating for just two days now and has been getting tremendous response. I have sent a letter to the judge in charge of this case and await his reply. I want the right to speak to the judge about this case in court. I want the public to be well informed of this matter. I want your help in spreading the news of this situation. 1. [ANNAPOLIS] 1911 Census -- Your Petitions Are Really Needed
    2. Muriel M. Davidson
    3. To all interested in release of the 1911 census records:- Three petitions have been given a new, clear, sharp look, and when translation is completed, the French language ones will also be changed. In the meantime, the present ones are fine. The committee members have grown in number -- it became difficult to pick which ones to represent his/her province. Instead, the site address for all committee members is posted. http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~downhome/committee.html Signatures received for the Senate will be tabulated Oct. 31, and the number will be announced as a total only.. When petitions are received in Ottawa by Senator Lorna Milne or by Murray Calder, MP, the petitions are presented - thus the number of signatures is added to Hansard pages. http://www.globalgenealogy.com/Census/Petition.htm Please download and obtain signatures -- this is our only PROOF we can offer to attest to the fact the census records are wanted. Addresses where to send petitions are on the first page Attachments are available if anyone has downloading trouble. Muriel M. 1. [ANNAPOLIS] Canadian Genealogy Centre - Survey
    2. Muriel M. Davidson
    3. To all:-. MAY BE FORWARDED OR TRANSLATED The first symposium of the Canadian Genealogy Centre to be held this weekend in Gatineau, Quebec, and in conjunction, a new website has been set up. There will be 100 people from across Canada attending the symposium, and the Canadian Genealogy Centre seeks to widen participation in discussions relating to the new Centre. As such, they have posted on the CGC website an online survey designed to gather input from members of the genealogy and family history community of interests, on the issues that will be discussed during the sessions at the symposium. The website to access this survey is http://cgc-ccg.archives.ca . You are asked to view a slide presentation prior to filling out the survey. The slide presentation is intended to inform you some of what is envisioned for the CGC. The slide show and the survey are available in both official languages. While it is obviously short notice, organizers of the symposium would like to have preliminary results of the survey to inform those attending the symposium. Your participation by completing the survey will assist in deterrmining the direction that the Canadian Genealogy Centre will take. Please take part in the survey, -- it only takes a few minutes -- names not required. Muriel M. 2. Louise Morell
    3. Thanks Gene. My Farnsworth line is Amos Farnsworth. He came to the Annapolis area in 1760 and returned to Groton, MA (from which he had originally come) in 1775. He and his son drowned in the Nashau River. I am not sure where his wife, Lydia Longley Farnsworth is buried. I think probably in NS as she didn't return to Groton when he and their son did. Amos is descended from Matthias Farnsworth, b 1612 in Lancaster, England and came to Lynn MA and later settled in Groton. I think the Joel Farnsworth you refer to is the son of Amos' brother Jonas. 3. You have great names to research in the local area as most have been well researched and on going. Your first two places to visit and you can get a head start from home as both places do look ups at a reasonable fee. The Admiral Digby Museum in Digby, N.S. has books on most of the names you listed. and is also a beautiful area to visit. admuseum@ ns.sympatico.ca Within 20 miles you have Annapolis Royal that is the home of ODELL HOUSE Museum that again houses an excellent genealogy collection. including most of your names Ryan Scranton <scrantrg@gov.ns.ca> For the Rices I suggest the following web site if you have not already visited it Five Nova scotia Families by George King http://www.widomaker.com/~gwk/

Her father George Timothy BOHAKER, son of Andres BOHAKER (Granville) and Amarilla Cecilia SMITH (Lunenburg) was born in Granville and died in Massachusetts, married Annie Amira RUGGLES, daughter of Arther RUGGLES and Elizabeth Stuart RICE (all of NS). We've never been to Nova Scotia, but hope to visit the Annapolis area - and maybe PEI and around Bass River, NB (our fathers) within the next couple of years. I'd love to hear suggestions on where we should go and what we should see - both for research and to get to know and enjoy the area. My mother worked on her genealogy for 30+ years and has now handed it on to me - but she did all the easy-ish stuff - so while chipping away at her brick walls, I started doing my husband's (very rewarding for a newbie to get some of those quick hits! <smile>).
