I honestly don't have much info beyond what Aunt Bertha has given me but I am now at a point where I am really curious and would like to know more so I am going to be digging. I also have a cousin in Nova Scotia who might be able to help now that I am willing to start the process. I would love to chat and hear what you have learned. I was quite close with my Nana but only met my grandfather a few times when I was much younger before he passed away. I am in Alberta, Canada but I have free calling to US so I can call you if you'd like. Could you email me directly at wandarowe51@gmail.com so that it is not posted up on this site? Author: MChapman56 Surnames: Messervey Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.canada.newfoundland.westcoast/1334/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I have recently registered a Messervey (Messervy,Meserve) project with the Guild of One Name Studies. The aim is to document the origins of the surname, migration patterns, social history of Messerveys across the world. My maternal grandmother was Elizabeth Messervey, daughter of John Messervey who was born in Sandy Point NFL c.1824. He married Sarah Hoare also of sandy Point and they eventually settled in Halifax NS. I believe he descended from Philippe Messervey who migrated with the fishery from Jersey Channel Islands. SO, my first task is to document all surname in Newfoundland. If you have proven genealogies for the Messerveys I would love to hear from you. 2. Helen Ginn via
    3. Hello Listers: I am searching for connections to Andrew BOWN/BOWNS/BOUND/BOUNDS/BOWNDES or variations of the name circa 1870. I have been told that the names are used interchangeably in birth, marriage and death records and unfortunately it only adds to confusion when searching. Andrew Bowndes married a Mahala Comby at Griguet 5 September 1867. I believe Andrew was a fisherman. Any connections out there? 1. [CAN-NF-WEST-COAST] Frampton Lines
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: rockofages02 Surnames: Frampton; Anderson; Childs Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.canada.newfoundland.westcoast/1333/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hi, I'm looking to chat with anyone who can clear up a bit of a research mystery that I have encountered relating to the Frampton line. Specifically, about the marriage between a Solomon Childs and an Amy Frampton in 1898 to which I have a marriage record of. However, my great grandmother is said to have been Emma Jane Frampton and she is said to have been married to a Solomon Childs (my grandfathers parents) as well. I have seen some posts where some believe that Amy and Emma are the same person. But this cannot be so as I have a marriage record that lists Solomon's and Amy's marriage in 1898 with one of the witnesses noted as being Emma Jane Frampton, so they cannot be the same person. HOWEVER, in the 1911 census Solomon's wife is noted as "Emma" not "Amy" and all records thereafter note his wife as Emma. So something took place between 1898 and 1911. However, I can find no records. My mother inisists that her grandmothers name was "Emma", not "Amy". So, my questi! on is what happened to "Amy", and when and why did "Emma" take her place. To top it all off, I came across a record of marriage from 1897 for an Andrew Frampton and an Emma Jane Anderson. So after her marriage she became Emma Jane Frampton. There are no death records that I can find for an Amy Childs (nee Frampton), nor is there a marriage record for Solomon and Emma Jane Frampton that I can find. Anyway, mystery of mysteries. Can someone help????? Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
