She was born about 1869 in St. Anthony. She died 13 July 1902 at Pilleys Island. She married Duncan Barnes, I am not sure where or when but my guess is about 1886 near Little Bay. She had 6 children that I can find. Wentworth Barnes (My Great Grandfather) born in Little Bay, later moving to Toronto Herman Barnes George Barnes Effie Barnes - born Boot Harbour - Married Herbert Allenby Lytton Howell Barnes - born Pilleys Island Mary Elizabeth - born Pilleys Island All I know from her grave marker is that she was from St. Anthony. Nothing more about parents or family there. I would be interested to hear anything that you may have or know about the Simms of St. Anthony. I'd like to try and discover her line. Author: rfreake Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.canada.newfoundland.northernpeninsula/51.1.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hi Baxter, It's great to hear from a fellow-Freake and a fellow-researcher. Yes, I'm the one. I also sent another message to you through Ancestry. com; my name is Reg Freake and I've been trying to reconstruct the ancestry of the Freake Family(s) of Newfoundland for many years. My research is quite extensive but there are always many mysteries and/or missing and/or incorrect data. I've traced my own Freake Family back to John Freake bc.1780. However, I have a lot of names which I haven't been able to connect to parents, wives, etc. (I'm sure you know the challenges). I'm of the mind that we are all connected to a common set of Freake bloodline but that may take me to England to establish any common roots. I don't want to move my focus and research to England until I'm somewhat satisfied with the NFLD records first. I have Isaiah Freake & Mary Maud Prowse in my tree and have identified their parents and some (maybe all) of their children. However, there are lots of missing and possibly incorrect data. I also would like to connect their grandparents, GG grandparents, etc. so that I can verify if they connect to other Freakes in my family tree. I can send you what I have on Michael & Maud, etc. and you can review and verify and/or send me any corrections, omissions, etc. If you send me your regular email address then I'll send you an attachment with the descendants records. Look forward to hearing back from you. Best regards, Reg Freake rfreake@gmail.com Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. My research shows that Matilda's maiden name was Taylor. I'm also seeking information about this family. Author: GerryBromley Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.canada.newfoundland.northernpeninsula/173.1.2/mb.ashx Message Board Post: In reference to Barbara's message. Yes, Agnes Bromley (husband Martin) had been previously married to a FitzPatrick. After his death, she later married Bromley. Her maiden name was Dower. We knew her as Aunt Aggie Bromley when we were growing up. She was a lovely, kind lady who was always so tidy-looking in her lovely long black skirts (down to her ankles) with nicely trimmed blouses and an old-fashioned spotlessly clean long, white bib-apron, her grey/white hair tied up in a bun. That's how I remember her. The second Agnes Bromley was from Fishot Island. She was a housekeeper for my great-uncle John Bromley in Conche. John was a bachelor who raised my dad, Peter Bromley, when he became orphaned at age 7. This Agnes was a relative of my great-uncle John. Hope this helps. Author: GerryBromley Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.canada.newfoundland.northernpeninsula/173.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: The information from Barbara is correct. In the 1921 NL Census there were two Agnes Bromleys. One was married to Martin Bromley and they lived in Conche. She had been left a widow by the death of her first husband FitzPatrick and later remarried to Bromley. I believe she was born Agnes Dower. The second Ages Bromley was originally from Fishot Island and came to Conche as the housekeeper of my bachelor great-uncle John Bromley. She was a relative of John's and to the best of my knowledge, never married. John raised my father Peter Bromley, whose father died when Peter was very young and whose mother then returned to her home city of St. John's where she also died at age 49, when Peter was 7 years old. BTW there is an old picture of Agnes Bromley of Martin (Aunt Aggie as we all called her) on Facebook. Hope this info helps. Cheers Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. If you would like to reply to them, please click on the Message Board URL link above and respond on the board.

Author: DennisRyan99 Surnames: Fitzpatrick , Bromley Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.canada.newfoundland.northernpeninsula/173/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Anyone researching the Fitzpatrick family of Conche, NL. Monica was a daughter of John Fitzpatrick and Agnes(unknown. Monica was bor in the 1890's and moved to NS before 1925. She married my great uncle James Mc/MacLean in 1925 at New Glasgow, NS. She died about 1985 in Nova Scotia. I cannot read the last name of her mother on the hand written marriage registration but it has been suggested that her maiden name was Bromley. There are two entries in the 1921 Census for this name one does not fit the age and the 2nd Agnes is working as a servant in the home of another family.
