    3. Thanks so much, Nora. I really appreciate you taking the time to help me!!! Tim -----Original Message----- From: Nora Phillips [mailto:noraphillips@hotmail.com] Sent: Sunday, October 21, 2018 12:04 PM To: can-nf-conception-bay-north@rootsweb.com Subject: [CAN-NF-CONCEPTION-BAY-NORTH] Re: Parsons of St. John's and Harbour Grace Hello Tim..just seeing your details..admittedly, I have not been using this list very often..especially, since the new changes & issues with the site since December 2017. Tim, a few genealogy sites & sources for your research > 1) Newfoundland's Grand Banks - various options to search within this wonderful "go to" site!; 2) NL-Genweb [hosted by Rootsweb/Ancestry] - also with various options to research and, 3) FamilySearch - Newfoundland and Labrador. - keep in mind, and you are already aware, Harbour Grace is located in the Conception Bay (North) area of the province. Depending on the people your are searching, and their families..many migrated & moved out of and into other areas of the province but, also into the United States and across Canada. If you are on Facebook, you might want to consider joining > 1) Newfoundlanders and Genealogy and, 2) Newfoundland's Grand Banks. If you've had your DNA done, I would encourage you to become a member with the DNA databse, GEDMatch.com - there are many videos on Youtube to view for info. Once you've done that and you have been assigned your unique kit # by GEDMatch.com, you can then join many groups on Facebook for "matching" and connecting with DNA cousins. I would suggest - Newfoundland Gedmatch. Hope these details are of help, regards..Nora _______________________________________________ Email preferences: http://bit.ly/rootswebpref Unsubscribe https://lists.rootsweb.com/postorius/lists/can-nf-conception-bay-north@rootsweb.com Privacy Statement: https://ancstry.me/2JWBOdY Terms and Conditions: https://ancstry.me/2HDBym9 Rootsweb Blog: http://rootsweb.blog RootsWeb is funded and supported by Ancestry.com and our loyal RootsWeb community

    1. [CAN-NF-CONCEPTION-BAY-NORTH] Parsons of St. John's and Harbour Grace

    3. Hi everyone, I'm new to this group. I'm looking for information about the Parson's of the St. John's area, originally from Harbour Grace. My ggg-grandfather, "Henry" (John C.) Parsons (b. about 1806, d. 25 January 1871) was born in St. John's, Nfld. Henry was known to be a cabinet-maker, and immigrated to the United States (first New York, and ultimately Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) by the 1840's, and died in Philadelphia. His father was Jonathan Parsons (approx. 1781-1831), originally of Harbour Grace, I think. And Henry's mother was (Mary) Charlotte Butler (approx. 1787-1838). I think Jonathan's parents may have been John and Patience Parsons from Harbour Grace, but I'm just not sure. Does anyone have any further light you might be able to shed on this? Thanks! Tim

She is the oldest daughter of John Moores of Blackhead and Elizabeth Tuff of Western Bay. They got married 07 January 1808 in Blackhead. However, the marriage record is under the Carbonear Methodist Church. John and Elizabeth had seven other children; Caroline (1812) m John Hudson; William (1817) m Henrietta Baggs; Jabez (1822) m Olymphus Curtis; Edgar (1822); Clementine (1825) m J. Baggs; Levi (1833) m Honour LeGrow; Mary Elizabeth (1833)**. Most of the spouses are from Blackhead, Broad Cove and Adam's Cove. John Moores' parents are Jonathan Moores Sr and Sarah?. I don't have the names of Elizabeth Tuff's parents. I hope you find this helpful. I also have some of the children's names of her siblings. John and Elizabeth would be my 3x great uncle and aunt.
