    1. [CAN-NB-YORK] Looking to connect with the PLANT families of NB
    2. Carol MacLean
    3. Greetings to the list, i have an interest in the surname PLANT that came to NB via Cape Breton. This family was originally from England and they were Church of England by first religion, and the bulk of this family remained in Cape Breton. From what I can gather, they came to the St. John and Fredericton areas. They were a well to do family, becoming Esq's, and Commissaries of the British Army, stationed at time in other British Colonies. The first known date of this line of Plant in NB was December of 1818 , when a daughter of William Plant, Esq & H.M. Justice of the Peace for Sydney, Cape Breton, was married to James Augustus MacLauchlan, in NB. The wedding announcement appeared in the Royal Gazette for St. John in Jan. of 1819. It also mentioned that her brother was Commissary Plant. He was her oldest brother named also William Plant, and from info, he married and had family in NB as well. His son was Henry William Woodforde Plant, Commissary General of the British Army for NB & NS. I don't know if this Henry W.W. Plant had any sibbling nor the name of his mother, assuming that she may have been by the surname of Woodforde. Any connections to these NB PLANT families would be greatly appreciated.
