Especially considering the number of White families in the area. A formidable task. Even more difficult if you are working on a Regular Membership of the UELAC. I feel that, in your case, land petitions (which may contain elements of Loyalist service) and grants (which should identify specific holdings) may be even more significant. I have seen no signs of a Loyalist claim for Henry White, nor a petition for a pension (in the 1840's) on his or his wife's behalf. I also suspect he may not have left a will; although since the site Cleadie notes gives his date-of-death, it should be easy to search the York Co. probate records. Land records may be a major clue for you. For example, if you can show that Henry White owned a specific parcel of land; and that, soon after, a White owned that parcel, or a part of that parcel, then the assumption is that the later White was an heir; probably a child. After that, census returns should provide most of the major information needed. Thomas
