His son, Elijah, was brother to the Samuel you mentioned who married Elizabeth Mayes and Elijah was my second great grandfather. I know I've seen the Hersey/Fanjoy connection but I can't put my hands on it right now. I was in contact with a Fanjoy on the NB or NS list, again I can't remember who - Emery maybe, some time ago. I have not been doing genealogy this summer as my daughter had surgery, my son was married, etc. I am hoping I will be able to get back to it this fall. Your name sounds familiar. Perhaps we have been in contact before. You are right that the family came to Yarmouth, NS (in 1763) from Pembroke, MA. They go back to the William you mentioned who was married to Elizabeth Croade. Samuel was the only one to leave NS in about 1776 and go to Gagetown. Most of his children stayed in NB but my line went back to ME in 1832 and my grandfather was born in Littleton, ME. I would be interested to see where your Fanjoy connects as I don't find it in the index to The Hersey Family by Stephen Hersey who latest version is dated 2000. We've been waiting for him to do an update but so far, he hasn't. Thanks, Marilyn P.S. It's funny about the Briggs name you mentioned because my mother-in-law had maternal grandparents with the name Briggs but they came from RI and possibly earlier from MA.
