Author: pbrewer196 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.canada.newbrunswick.york/3064.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I have a file on Abraham Lint, b. 27 Apr 1829, d. aft. 1911, married Mary Ann White, b. 08 Sept 1837 in York Co., NB, d. 21 Aug 1916 Crystal, Aroostook, Maine. I believe Abraham Lint was the son of John Lint (b. abt 1791) and Elizabeth (b. abt 1793). They were living in Queensbury par., York Co., New Brunswick in 1851. My research is on the Loyalist Thomas White family, but I knew some Lints living in the Fredericton area so I became interested in the connections. I also have a marriage that might be of interest: John Cameron, b. abt 1808 married Hannah White, b. abt 1809, in 1829 at Keswick Ridge, York Co.. Hannah was the dau. of Thomas White(son of Thomas referred to above) and Elizabeth Sisson. Thomas White Jr. and Elizabeth moved to Hodgdon, Maine. Couldn't seem to find John and Hannah (White) Cameron afterwards. If you would like my file on Abraham Lint please email me at paulrbrewer@rogers.com. Let me know if I can help in some other way. Also Abraham Lint, his brother. I'm also looking for descendants of other Loyalists, James Niles and Joseph Hart who were also in the Guides and Pioneers. Finally, i'm trying to trace the family of Peter Cameron, who came to New Brunswick aged 4 in 1783 with his widowed mother. The Camerons were first settled in St. John then moved to Queensbury where they married into the Lint, Hall and Day families among others. Our unit is responsible for preserving the corporate memory of the organization. We manage both operational and administrative records. It so happens I am creating a finding aid for one of our records; the 1953 investigation of the unsolved murder of Leonard McIntyre in 1953. I was curious about the history of Barker's Point and thought I would do a little bit of diggin on my own and this is how I ended up perusing your "link". There is wealth of geneological information on this file, not only dealing with the McIntyre family but their neighbours (who were interviewed as part of the investigation) and there is quite a bit of detail documenting other aspects of the African-Canadian community at this period of time. Please make a formal Acess to Information Request (ATIP). This can all be done on line. Author: thomasamurray1 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.canada.newbrunswick.york/3063.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: You may mean the cemetery noted only as "Upper Queensbury", for example, at: http://archives.gnb.ca/Search/Cemeteries/Details.aspx?culture=en-CA&Key=31344 There appear to be a number of burials there, including Asa Tapley (ca. 1840-28FEB1907). Andrew Oliver is noted in the 1851 census at: http://automatedgenealogy.com/censusnb51/View.jsp?id=6826&highlight=10&desc=1851 Census of New Brunswick page containing Andrew Oliver and I assume that John OIiver, nearby, was his son. Asa Tapley is noted on the previous page with his parents and family. It is also called Upper Queensbury Cemetery at: http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~nbyork/cem/upperqueens.html Upper Queensbury likely means up the River Saint John and there is or was such a locality in the upriver portion of the parish. Andrew Oliver was granted 200 acres with William Tovey granted 100 acres 3MAY1823 and John Oliver was granted 182 acres 12SEP1823, with other grantees being William Gray, Adam Jackson and William Stewart, all in Queensbury Parish. Andrew's was just south of Lower Caverhill, behind the first grants along the river. It was also southerly of Upper Springfield and not far from the intersection you mentioned. Just off Upper Queensbury was Tapley Bar. I suspect this was in the vicinity of the Snowshoe Islands which I believe were flooded about 1970. Go to: http://archives.gnb.ca/Exhibits/Communities/Home.aspx?culture=en-CA eneter 'Upper Springfield', Select the York Co. entry and download the full map. Actually, zooming in on the detail offered will also show Andrew's lot. Thomas Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. She was at the Royal Fort, St Michael's Hill in Bristol UK. We know she was sent to Canada, Fredericton,New Brunswick to work on a farm near a Indian reserve. The family surname was Scott. We think they were Pioneer farmers. We also know she had a baby and stayed in the Alms House there as an unmarried women and the Minster we believe paid her passage home. The child is my grandmother and we have never known her father and the circumstances surrounding her birth. I was hoping someone could shred some light on this. I've spoke to Canada and they have given me limited information as that is all they have. My grandmother was baptised and the Alms House keeper AD Thomas and some one else were her godparents. The lady I'm looking for information about is my great grandmother Minnie Watts or she was known as Mary Watts. The child born in Canada was Kathleen Christina. Born 1888. My Grandmother always believed she was a Scott by surname but all searches come up with nothing. We believe the fathers name may have been Robert/Philip/ Arthur. The dates Winnie went Canada are 1881/2 and she returned between 1888-89 where her parents married her off very quickly back here. I have included a photo of the man we believe to be Kathleen Christine's father. Please if any one can help as all searches have come up with nothing.
