Married in 1826 to Elizabeth M. Allen by Rev. Christopher Milner of Sackville. He may have been a brother of Adam Tait. This Alexander had children Edward Valentine c1827; William c1829 = Sarah ___; George Hazen c1834; Margaret Elva c1837; Patrick Alexander c1842; Blair c1844 =Asenette ___; Cynthia Ann c1845; John c1850. The Adam Tait you listed had: 1. son Alexander born 1 July 1827 died 14 June 1888 at Shediac (probate films). Married Catherine ___ (1832 died after 1910, Irish). Several children. 2. son Adam born 9 March 1830. Married Mary Stephenson on 24 Feb 1851. Built the Caissie Cape lighthouse in 1861 and two ships. He had sons Alexander James Tait who started the potato trade with his brother Chesley R. Tait; Adam George Tait 1854; Robert Chesley Tait 1856 = Minnie E. Evans d/o Evander Valentine Evans of Sackville NB. aside:(Minnie was sister of Emma Murray Evans who married my g-grandfather Reuben Boultenhouse Purdy. R.C.Tait built the house "Elmbank" (page 147 of Running Far In) which used to have a small cannon on the front lawn, which used to belong to Reuben Purdy, and the Tait family which still lived there in 1967 also had a marble "madonna and child" statue belonging to Reuben (I have a photo of it and would love to find it and the cannon), and Allan Stephenson Tait (son of R.C.) told me that Reuben also had a bible with ivory covers and gilt pages that he hadn't seen for some years. Reuben left these things with the Taits when he went to Vancouver BC in 1890 with his son Ernest who was skipping bail. Reuben's family stayed in Shediac until 1894 then went to Vancouver.) 3. George Hazen Tait confirmed 29 Sept 1852 St. Paul's Anglican church, PANB film F8712. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
