I did consult a 2002 book entitled "Ye Wilbores All" for further info. The book indicates that Leonard was born 1860, the eldest of 11 children born to Abraham and Louise Adelaide(Wilson) Wilbur. It appears he was unmarried. Leonard was buried in Wilbur cemetery at the Gorge, which is now in the city of Moncton. If you want more, contact me privately. I've been to the cemetery before but when I was there I ignored many stones that I then didn't realize were connected to me and I would love to have the details now! I think every Brown there is connected to me somehow... If you could send the transcription to mark.mitchell.brown AT gmail DOT com, I'd greatly appreciate it. :) Cheers, Mark Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I don't think there are any burial records-I know the lady who used to be secretary at the church, she is an avid genealogist and she still has questions about some of her relatives buried there, so I doubt burial records exist. Many of my ancestors are buried there as well(mostly Steeves). I did a full transcription of the cemetery in 2003, I can send you the file if you would like. My file has 15 people listed with the surname Brown, and 15 with the surname Lutes/Lutz. If I remember correctly, the Boundary Creek Cemetery files on the Westmorland County Genweb site are not complete, but I believe the Provincial Archives has the complete listing. Those are indeed the correct Browns. However, looking back at my original post I realize I didn't really clarify what I'm looking for. What I'd like to find is more detailed records. I guess John Brown wasn't really the greatest example, as his full death date is written directly on the stone, but I'd like to know if there are records which give full death dates when a grave stone may only say "1916". In that particular case, I also cannot find the individual in the PANB Vital Stats. Do such records normally exist, and where would I find them? Thanks again! If the church is not in existence, or it is an older, pioneer-type cemetery, I'm afraid you'll have to rely on what other Westmorlander's have in their own histories. Good luck, hope you find what you are looking for. Sean Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Are there typically burial records available for these cemeteries? What if the church no longer appears to be in use? For example, my ggg-grandparents, John Brown & Martha Lutz, are buried in the Boundary Creek cemetery, as are a few of their children. I haven't been able to find any contact details for the church and I don't think it's in use anymore. Do their records still exist anywhere? I have no proof since I do not know the names of the other siblings. However, just the middle name being the surname of the mother, Mary Sayre would make me think that she is a sibling. I am so thrilled to find out so much history in one day! thank you so much for all your help! And to think I found a new cousin too, why it doesn't get any better than that!! I did see the info you posted on rootsweb, but I was wondering if you could send me the info through my email account as well if its not too much trouble. My email is katiemelanson@hotmail.com I noticed on your family tree posting that my great grandfather is listed as a female- "Aldora" instead of "Aldore" haha Who knew there were so many Melanson descendants from "Aldora"! I have some pictures I can email you of my great grandfather, one is on his wedding day, and I also a picture of 4 generations of Melansons sitting together- my great grandfather Aldore, my grandfather Vernon, my father Michael, and my baby brother Michael. My father thought Aldore's father came from a really big family with many brothers, and he was glad to see he was right! If you could send me an email address i'd love to send you the pictures. Are you living in New Brunswick? All the living Melansons from Aldore are in Halifax and Dartmouth N.S. My great grandfather lived in N.B, and had a cottage in Shediac that we used to visit as kids. Well Thanks again for everything! a la prochaine! Katie Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Here is how to get the 1881 census of Canada. Go to www.familysearch.org. At the right under "Start your Family History" click on "US British and Canadian Census Indexes." See where it says "Census All", click on the down arrow and select "1881 Canadian Census." Enter the name you are searching. You can narrow your search by also selecting "New Brunswick" for "Census Province" and "Westmorland" for County/District. When you get some hits, click on the name and it will take you to the census. Click on "household" to the right to see the family. The 1851 census is available at the www.automatedgenealogy.com site. If you live in the Dorchester area, visit the Archives at Mount Allison University in Sackville. They may have copies of the "Cemeteries of Westmorland County" recently published by the Southeastern Branch of the New Brunswick Genealogical Society. In this series of books you can search for your ancestors who are buried in the County. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
