Author: arewerelated2007 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.canada.newbrunswick.westmorland/4732.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Thank you for your reply. If it is not to much bother, do you know if Richard GOODWIN and Elizabeth SIDDALL possibly had a daughter named Lydia also? While searching for William and Leah (FILLMORE) GOODWIN'S daughter Lydia, and James and Frances (FILLMORE) GOODWIN'S daughter Mary, I came across a marriage registration for a Maria GOODEN to Alfred KINNEAR and according to trees posted on rootsweb, Maria was the daughter of Richard and Elizabeth. One of the witnesses to Maria's marriage was a Thomas FAULKIN (or FAULKNER). Given the similarity of this name, and that Richard Goodwin did have a son name Jonathan (not sure if he had one named Stephen), this was why I had not firmly attached Lydia (GOODWIN) FAULKNER to my own research. 1. [Westmorland Co NB] Card family of Dorchester - early 1800s
    2. Thomas Moffatt
    3. I am seeking any avenues for research on the CARD family - I am looking especially for the ancestors (possibly a John and Sarah Card) of Emma Card born about 1826 or 1827. I believe her siblings would be: Hannah, George, Mary, Emma, Nancy, James, Charles, Margaret, Isaac and Sarah It may be that a brother of the speculative father John Card is Leighton Card. Anyone know the origins of this family? Several in the mid-19th century were shoemakers. Tom Moffatt

Trying to determine if she was the daughter of William and Leah (FILLMORE) GOODWIN. Family tree on rootsweb states she was, but no sources listed, and I have been unable to get in contact with the submitter of the tree. Witnesses to Lydia and Thomas' marriage were s Stephen GOODEN and Jonathan GOODEN, neither of which were children of Leah and William, so I've been hesitant about adding this to my information without more proof this was their daughter. They lived in Rockland (which was part of Memramcook) from ca. 1857 - 1896. The Provincial Archives of NB and the local church have nothing on them. Their first child was baptized in 1857 and Anne was listed in the 1851 Albert Co. census as living at home with her mother, so they had to have been married between those years. My question is: are there any other civil marriage records besides the Westmorland County Register, and does anyone know if significant amounts of records were destroyed over the years (fire etc.)? My notes aren't clear on this, but this may come from the 1871 census and 1857 is suspiciously close to a 10 year error in calculating the birth of this "Louisa" if she is Lois A. I didn't know George's middle name. I show his wife as Sarah ____ (born 2 July 1868) and a son Roy Tait born 1888. I show Lois Amelia Ann Tait born 28 Feb 1868, Bapt 2 May 1869 by Robert Duncan, Moncton Central Methodist Church. I don't know further about this family. R.C.Tait built the house "Elmbank" (page 147 of Running Far In) which used to have a small cannon on the front lawn, which used to belong to Reuben Purdy, and the Tait family which still lived there in 1967 also had a marble "madonna and child" statue belonging to Reuben (I have a photo of it and would love to find it and the cannon), and Allan Stephenson Tait (son of R.C.) told me that Reuben also had a bible with ivory covers and gilt pages that he hadn't seen for some years. Reuben left these things with the Taits when he went to Vancouver BC in 1890 with his son Ernest who was skipping bail. Reuben's family stayed in Shediac until 1894 then went to Vancouver.) 3. If it was Boultenhouse this would be the first appearance of that name in the Barnes family and would add to the mystery of why the Barnes family used the Boultenhouse name so enthusiastically with no apparent relationship.
