I found a TR Colpitts, a photographer by trade, in Maine in the mid 1800s. My Caleb Sherman's brother, Ring Sherman moved to and settled in Maine from NB, Canada. Have you seen this picture before? (my connection). Now please see "Sherman Colpitts" in this next extract (Perhaps a connection to you). "Numbered among the descendants are Sherman Colpitts the secretary of the reunion organization". This extract pulled from an Albert county reunion page. The first name Sherman may relate to the Sherman Surname. The Colpitts Photographer Might be found in a old Advertisment in the Salisbury or Moncton N.B. local newspapers on microfiche film. Check Libraies in N.B. I in my research don't have any Shermans. Any other parties interested in a colpitts New Brunswick relation if related you are related to the aformentioned "FATHER OF THE COMPUTER AGE" Wilhelm Schickard, (died 1635), through the Colpitts-Steeves-Trites,Gmelin line. As this Nobleman's Family died of the Plague he has no decendants directly, Relationships are through his maternal Gmelin line . His mother was killed by Imperial troops during the wars caused by the Protestant Reformation to which he was an adherant. I also trace back to one Sophia Beck, Daughter of Martin Beck. She married one Mattias Steeves (my Stee! ves connection Maternal side). Thanks for the post and offer. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I have a daguerrotype of a person believed to be Caleb Sherman of Salisbury and on the backing is stamped "T. R. Colpitts, Photographer". I found a T.R. Colpitts living in Maine who might have taken the picture of an earlier relative's painting. My ancestor, Caleb Sherman b. 1785 in Salisbury vicinity migrated to Ohio in 1830 with Abigail and son, Titus Beck/Peck believed to be the family of husband Leonard Beck/Peck buried in Burnt Hill Cemetary, also know as the Thaney Smith Burial Ground, Salisbury Parish, along the Pollet River. The area in Ohio where they settled had many Canadians who preceded them including Steeves, Wortman and others. If you are interested, I'd be happy to share the picture with you.
