    3. MOORES/MOOERS [Maugerville; Sheffield; Miramichi; Queensbury; Matapedia;Restigouche]. A man named Samuel MOOERS who was born 30 Jul 1761 at Rowley, Massachusetts and died bef 18 Aug 1803 in Queensbury Parish, York Co, New Brunswick, appears to be my 4th great-grandfather. He was apparently the son of Peter S. Mooers and Mary Howe(s). I have seen tantalizing records that say he "...married and had issue" and that he "...had a large family;" but I have not been able to find any record of his *wife's name* or the *names of four of his five children. * Could anyone possibly have that data and be willing to share it? I would be very grateful. Carroll B. Knox Caribou, Maine <cknox@gwi.net>

    3. I recently reviewed my family tree from Queens County at Ancestry. I found authors who had tidbits of information from my research and then others who had copied from them. The result was a cannibolization of family units. I am able to determine who originated what because of my extensive database. But it is crazy for others not in the family to simply copy. What a mess! We need to take more pride in what we publish. 3. It is disgusting and discouraging when some over-eager, alleged researcher hastily puts together genealogy information actually pertaining to two distinctly separate individuals and posts the result as a proven fact. It is equally disgusting (and inexcusable) when a commercial, data mining and database-building company accepts it as fact and publishes the garbled information as customer bait, or worse, makes it available to anyone willing to pay an exorbitant subscription price. Running a Chrome search for "John Knox 1724" brings up the following ERRONEOUS INFORMATION on Ancestry.com: "John Knox (1724 - 1819) Born at Boxford, Massachusetts, USA on 1724 to Knox. John married Mary Salter and had 7 children. He passed away on 18 Nov 1819 in Grimross Neck, Gagetown Queens, New Brunswick, Canada." The proven FACTS: (1) John Knox, son of Adam (Addom) Sr. and Jane ( ) Knox, was born on 15 February 1724 at Boxford, Massachusetts. He never married and died without issue, age 23, shortly before 14 July 1747 at Pelham, Massachusetts. SOURCE: Boxford, Massachusetts Vital Records. On page 64 it indicates he had a will that was dated 9/18/1746 at Pelham, Mass. and "allowed" 7/14/1747 at Northampton, Massachusetts. (2) My 4th-great grandfather John Knox was born about 1724 at an unknown place, and of unknown parents. He married Mary Salter, daughter of Robert and Margaret (Moxley) Salter, in St. James Anglican Church at Windsor, Hants Co, Nova Scotia on 19 November 1778. John and Mary had eight (8) children, the first probably born in Nova Scotia and the rest at Gagetown, New Brunswick. John Knox died on 18 November 1819, age 95, at Gagetown, New Brunswick and is buried in St. Johns Anglican churchyard. His widow, Mary, who was 37 years his junior, married widower George Porter at Gagetown on 09 December 1824. George Porter drowned on 9 October 1834, and the fate of Mary (Salter) Knox Porter is unknown. 1. Re: [Sunbury Co NB] Family of Samue lMooers?
    2. Hello, What I know is that Peter Mooers had a son, Samuel Mooers, among other children and moved to New Brunswick along with another family named Langdon (Langin, Langan). Thomas Langdon married Jane Mooers. I also can find records of Thomas & Jane after reaching New Brunswick, but cannot find the name of Thomas' father & mother or where he was born. If, in your research, you find any clues regarding the Langdons, I would appreciate it. Does anyone know of a record that names Samuel Mooers' wife and children? Samuel Mooers was born 30 July 1761 in Rowley Massachusetts. He died sometime before 18 Aug 1803 in Queensbury Parish, York County, New Brunswick. Two land grant petitions submitted by Samuel Mooers provided more definite information, including where he was at the time, that he was in fact married and a family, as follows: May 31, 1796 "Samuel Mooers of the Parish of Prince William..." asked for a plot of land that he thought had been abandoned, and at the end of that petition he wrote that, "Your Memorialist has a large family ..." July 5th, 1800 (from Queensbury) - "Samuel Moores states that ... his family at present consisting of himself, a wife and five children." Any leads would be much appreciated . . . 1. [Sunbury Co NB] Melvin Corbett
    2. Richard Murray
    3. Looking for help in tracing the following; Melvin Corbett, b. c1860, Blissville, married Letitia Murray on 14 Apr 1885 in Fredericton. The only other lead I have for Melvin is, he appears in the 1871 census for Blissville, living in the household of William Patterson, age 55, and Walter Paterson, age 26. There are no other occupants recorded there, but I would conclude that Melvin was a relative of William... perhaps a grandson or nephew. Letitia Murray was b. c1865, Lepreau, Charlotte Co., NB, the dau. of Charles and Margaret (Crawford) Murray, and one of six siblings in that family. The Murray family moved from Char. Co. to Albert Co. in the late 1860's, then the first indication I have of them in Sunbury is when their dau. Margaret is born on 09 Apr 1870, Gladstone Parish. The youngest in this Murray family, Andrew William, was b. 19 Sep 1877, at Fredericton Jct. I have searched census and voters lists throughout Canada and the United States, without success, so Melvin and Letitia have been a solid, thick, brick wall for a long time. Any advice, leads or help greatly appreciated. Richard Murray Picton, Ontario

    2. Dittmar, Frederick M.
    3. Since I wrote on the 11th I have been busy, In reviewing the mail lists of Canada I noticed one list lacking from each Province (except ONT) and that was a mail list of the Ghost towns. I have now started a Ghosttown mail list for each Province and Territory in Canada. This list is for the study and researching the Town Names, Residents, History and Locations of abandoned towns that your ancestors lived in. Go to Rootsweb and subscribe to the Ghosttown list in the Province or Territory that you have a genealogical interested in and talking about these old and abandoned towns and outposts.
