There are various spellings but common in the census is also McCollum. Is anyone working on this family. They resided in St. John and there is some back and forth with Maine. I can track them back to the late 1800s but unable to track the first William McCollom from County Tyrone. I have seen some glimpses that maybe he was Catholic and Irish speaking (not sure if it is who I want it to be). I have been to County Tyrone and heard that there were a lot of McColloms there. Hello All, I believe the above Henrey Smith to be my gg grandfather, but need some help in finalizing my convictions. He is listed in the 1881 Census of Saint John as being located in Lancaster which is consistent with my research as my Henrey Smith lived at Pleasant Point on the west bank of the Saint John River in Lancaster, St. John. The census does not provide information as to where in Lancaster its Henrey Smith lived other than DISTRICT 25, SUB DISTRICT A, DIVISION 3, PAGE 10, FAMILY 40, HOUSEHOLD 895846. G'day Laura I do have a Whelpley, but a Thomas, who witnessed a number of crew signature's, when they signed on as crew of the SEA in Saint John in September 1847, for a voyage to Hull in England. He did not sail on the SEA. I thought he might have been associated with a seaman's home, where the crew may have been recruited from? Hello Robert, I saw you stated having records of shipbuilders in St. John. I have been looking for my GGGF for about three years and wondered if you have anything on him. I have records of him living in St. John, in directories, during the years 1851-1881 and his family living in Mascarene and Lepreau. I have been unable to locate parents for David or death information other then a date. I would really appreciate if you could take a look. He is: Capt. David C. Whelpley, sea captain, master mariner b. 26Dec1831-1833 in Indiantown,Portland NB. d. FEB1883 Lost at Sea between St. John/St. George and Wales lived in town at: 90 Britain, 117 Britain, Harding n Germain wife: Harriet Jane Pangbourne possible brother: Capt. John Lawrence Whelpley, b. 1822 possible father: William H. Whelpley, b.1805 Related Ships built/owned: Annie Bayard 1846, J870026 official #059300 Pandora 1846, J850023, Official #036658 Venture 1849, J849120, Official #061492the Other ships with possible traveled as crew: Scotia, Wanderer, Margaret Ann, Lena, Olivia, Progress I have more ship information if needed. I have ran into problems finding these ships. When I look at what I can find at the Family History Library I can not find ships with official numbers higher the 030000 series.
