His brother Samuel (my ancestor in that family) was born sometime around 1795. Samuel named his first two sons George (firstborn died - second born got the same name) - wondering if perhaps his father's name was John George Grant. Samuel and his brothers John and George received a land grant in 1812 in Restigouche county. Family lore here also indicates that our Grants were related to President Grant. I am at a real dead end with these folks unfortunately. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Annabella Grant was the daughter of George Grant and Sarah Wood. Birth 3 August 1810 in Restigouche, Quebec. Death March 21, 1855 in Escuminac, Bonaventure County, Canada. Her baptismal record is on Ancestry, and shows her birth name was Annabella Stewart Grant. She married Peter Stewart, and they had many children born in Escuminac: Elizabeth 1827-1897 Peter Jr. 1829-1910 Barbara 1834-1888 Annabella 1836- Catherine 1838- Christina 1843- Donald 1844- George Grant 1847 John 1850- William 1852- Flora 1855 Annabella Stewart Grant Stewart died in childbirth. In 1861, her husband Peter Stewart was still living in Bonaventure County with 8 of the children (shown on census). By about 1868, Peter Stewart and many of the children moved to Lafayette, Chippewa, Wisconsin. I have little info on these Grants, but family lore says Annabella Grant was supposed to be related to President U.S. Grant, and her "folks" included many ministers. Do you know when your George Grant was born? Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
