Hello Anne, If your Charles CLARK was born in New Brunswick in 1806, he was most probably the son of one of the sons of Elisha CLARKE and Desire GARDNER. They had 11 children by 1811 when they came to Ontario, seven boys and four girls, and they all came with them. They had at least one more daughter in 1814. My 3X great grandfather, Jabez, appears to have come on his own, with his eldest son Elisha (born April 9, 1802 in New Brunswick) old enough to also apply for a land grant in 1824. There were three other sons that I have discovered - William( born abt. 1808), Joseph Burney ( born abt 1810) and Isaiah(born Oct. 14, 1805 and my 2X great grandfather). So there are at least three other sons whom I have not yet discovered. Your Charles may be one of them, if he also came to Ontario. Isaiah's third son was named Charles King CLARK, the King after his wife's family. He is my great grandfather, born in 1855 in Glanford Township, Wentworth County, Ontario. So, if your Charles is not a son of Jabez, then he might be a son of one of the other brothers, Gardiner, Elisha, Isaac, or Benjamin. Unfortunatelu, I do not have the descendants of those families. If and when I do get them, I will keep you posted.
