Three Brooks/ Arthurette, Gordon Parish, Victoria Co., NB 6AUG1868 (ca. 1874), d. Plaster Rock, Gordon Parish, Victoria Co., NB 10JUN1945 age 70 years, 10 months and 5 days, m. (Andover Parish?), Victoria Co., NB 17MAY1909 PHOEBE ANN WILSON (b. Hudson, Maine or Quebec ca. 1891). John was a son of Hezekiah and Amanda (Mandy) (Fairbanks) Day. Hezekiah appears to have been the Hackie Day (b. 7NOV1840) living alone in Gordon Parish, Victoria Co., NB in 1901. In 1911, Hezekiah Day (NOV1840) lived next to 'Isais' Day (JAN1847), likely his brother. Hezekiah was a widower and 'Isais' seems not to have been married. Hezekiah d. Plaster Rock, Gordon Parish, Victoria Co., NB 6AUG1915 age 75 years and 9 months (b. ca. DEC1839). He was born in Houlton, Aroostook Co., NB, but his family likely came from NB. In 1851, for example, he was living in Brighton Parish, Carleton Co., NB (b. ca. 18410, with his parents, Thomas (ca. 1811) and Mary (ca. 1815) Day as: Day Thomas (absent) M Head 40 Lumberer Day Mary F Wife 36 Day David M Son 14 Birth Day Jonathan M Son 12 Birth Day Hezekiah M Son 10 Birth Day James M Son 8 Birth Day Ezra M Son 6 Birth Day William M Son 3 Birth Day Mary Ann F Daughter 1 Birth Thomas was likely working in a logging camp or on the spring logging run. Ezra (b. ca. 1845), would likely be 'Isais' (b. Jan1847) in 1911 and 'Ezria' Day (b. 20JUN1841) in Gordon Parish in 1901. Thomas' widow, Maria Sophia Day, d. Three Brooks, Victoria Co., NB 2MAR1883 age 67 years, leaving six sons and one daughter, so it seems that all of her children in 1851 survived her. Thomas (ca. 1810) was still living in 1871, and the family was in Gordon Parish. Ezra Day (b. Maine ca. JAN1843, d. 28APR1926), was the s/o Thomas and Mary Sophia (Hallett) Day. A child of Hezekiah and Amanda (Fairbanks) Day was Thomas M. Day (28MAR1868-8JAN1928). His death record states that Amanda was b. in Fort Fairfield, Maine and Hezekiah was b. in Houlton, Aroostook Co., ME. Phoebe was a daughter of James and Delia (Nason) Day. The Nason's I believe were from Sunbury Co., NB. See: http://familytreemaker.genealogy.com/users/s/e/w/Herbert-C-Sewell/WEBSITE-0001/UHP-0146.html http://plasterrockvillage.com/history/ http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~nbcarlet/Day_families_in_New_Brunswick.html The family appears to have been large and there was another John Henry Day in the area. The children I could find (and there appears to have been more) are below. Hezekiah is given as the founder of Plaster Rock in 1881, but his father, Thomas Day (1810-1874) is buried near there in Linton Corner Cemetery, Victoria County, NB. Also, Hezekiah was granted 100 acres in Gordon Parish in 1874. Thomas was given 100 acres in Lorne Parish at the same time. Hezekiah was given another 100 acres in 1909. Ezra 100 acres in Lorne Parish in 1878. 'Esekiah' Petitione for land in Victoria Co. in 1853, and 'Edzry' in 1864. 'Hezecia' also petitioned in 1860. David was also active petitioning in 1853 and 1854. Thomas Day petitioned in 1853, 1854 and 1859. So I think the family was active in the general area much earlier than 1881. Children: 1. IDA MARGARET DAY, m. _____ SAUNDERS. 2. JOHN DAY b. Plaster Rock, Gordon Parish, Victoria Co., NB ca. 1914, m. United Baptist Church parsonage, Plaster Rock, Gordon Parish, Victoria Co., NB 8JUL1933 ISABELLE BRAYALL (b. Grand Falls, Victoria Co., NB ca. 1914-5, d. Lancaster Parish, Saint John Co., NB 24SEP1945 age 30 years), d/o Sylvester and Olive (Edgar) Braynall. 3 HEZEKIAH DAY b. Plaster Rock, Gordon Parish, Victoria Co., NB 12NOV1915 (or 1916), m. Hazledean, Victoria Co., NB ca. 1916), d/o Albert George and Matilda Annie (Cormier) Arsenault. 4. EMMA IRENE DAY b. Plaster Rock, Gordon Parish, Victoria Co., NB 14NOV1918, m. 'Cecilla's' father, James De Leavy (30APR1881-16AUG1951) was from Naples, Italy. Thomas. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
