I need dates of birth for Jane Bubar Sewall, wife of Thomas, and also for Thomas Unfortunately according to Fred Burnett there are a lot of graves with no stones in the Upper Brighton Cemetery. Jane and Thomas, nonetheless, have a large stone with their dates. Unfortunately I did not copy his dates, but when I get a digital photo of the stone, I will have them. Her dates I copied from a book which Mr. Burnett keeps on that cemetery. I did not know that Jane was a Bubar. Thanks for that. Her death date is: April 14, 1882 or 83, according to his record. I do not have a birth date for Jane. RECORD BOOK OF THE BURIALS OF THE UPPER BRIGHTON FREE BAPTIST CEMETERY KEPT BY THE UPPER BRIGHTON CEMETERY ASSOCIATION, jULY 4, 1989. IN "MY" RECORDS, taken for an internet source on the Descendants of Thomas Sewell and Mary Norton (if they were Dominicus's parents) I have this death date for Thomas: January 29, 1875. Mr. Burnett showed me an interesting document entitled: EARLY VITAL RECORDS OF THE TOWNSHIP OF YARMOUTH, NS 1762-1811... which includes births deaths and minutes of the township. This record shows that a Thomas Sewell (the one I believe to have married Jane, but I'm not sure) son to Dominicus Sewell and Sarah [Thorndike] was baptized at Yarmouth on February 1, 1767, page 30. Now, there is also a document, RECORD OF THE FIRST CONGREGATONAL CHURCH OF YARMOUTH, NS, which Mr. Burnett showed me. The church was organized in 1767 and was shortlived lasting only a few years perhaps or less; he could not remember. Nonetheless, it seems to conflict with the Township records noted above with respect to one Thomas Sewell's baptism. The church record says that Thomas Son of Dominicus and Sarah Sewell was baptized on September 13, 1767 (page 33) and that their daugher, Elizabeth was baptized on August 27, 1769. (page 35) It also says that Sarah Sewall their mother had been a member of the First Church of Beverly [Essex, MA] (page 6). She was born in Beverly of course. Fred said that this was a rare document and that he did not think that many researchers used it to document their genealogy. Had you heard of it? I had not. I'd like to know where Dominicus and Sarah Thorndike Sewell are buried. That will be another trip, probably to Maugerville, Sunbury, NB, Canada, eh? DWBeattie in Maine USA PS: Keep in touch. I'll look up some things on Olive Jane Sewell Clark. Do you know much about her? Thanks. DWB Mr. Burnett also believes that there are some Sewells buried in a place once called Beckaguuimack near Hartland. Do you know of this place/section of Hartland? Across the river to the west, I guess somewhere.
