I have information on the Children of JAMES MATHEWS or MATTHEWS and ANN KATON or CATON. The family was living in North Esk in the 1851 Census. They were from the Miramichi area. James was born around 1806. ANN may have died near 1856. The Children are all living in Stillwater Minnesota in 1857. The names are: ELIZABETH/LIZZIE Married Richard Barron JOHN Born 12/25/1832 Married Ellen Welsh SAMUEL Born 07/07/1832, Married Elizabeth/Eliza Feeley or Foley ANN 1834ish Married JAMES MCDERMOTT was living in WI in the 1880 census JAMES Born 1836ish Married Johanna/Nettie SIMON Born 1838ish Married Unknown PATRICK Born 1841ish Married UNK WILLIAM Born 1843 ish Married UNK CATHERINE Born 1848 Married JAMES MORRISON If anyone has any ideas as to who JOHN MATHEWS SR. parents were, please let me know. Hi, I have found mention of a James Matthews who wrote an article for the Stillwater Messenger after a return trip to his the Miramichi (says he lived at Renous) the article was written in 1889.....it is a long article with nothing more in genealogical names........its about his visit to the Miramichi........
