Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/0NC.2ACE/441 Message Board Post: I am looking for information on a Jane Featherham Chambers of Glenelg, New Brunswick. She was first married to Peter Featherham. They had three daughters: Margaret born around 1817, Mary born around 1825, and Catherine born around 1826. When Jane's first husband died, she married Joseph Chambers. I would appreciate any information on Jane Featherham Chambers, Peter Featherham, their children, and on Jane's second marriage to Joseph Chambers. I already have census information. Anything else would be appreciated.
Would anyone be familiar with the above person or company possibly doing business in the area early 1800s. There are three lots issued with this name adjacent to each other in the River Charlo area. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Lorna
Greetings to all ~ I know this sounds like a silly question, but... Someone was kind enough to give me some information I have not had before. This info was written in their notes - but no source. I am intrigued because they give a House Number for the location in Black Lands, Restigouche (and previous), NB ca 1829. Would anyone know what this source might be and where it might possibly be located? I would be eternally grateful. The passage reads: "Catherine Ann Hamilton and Hugh Alexander McKenzie went to East River, Pictou Co., NS, Black Land House #45 (with notation N.B. - 1829)." Aloha to all ~ Lorna Arran families to NB, including HAMILTON, MacLEAN, KERR, MURCHIE, COOK, MacBRIDE, McALISTER, McDONALD, McCORMACK, etc.

I have found lots of family Mclean-Campbell family info I'm sure all can use this database! New Online Database for Canadian Research at PANB Daniel F. Johnson’s New Brunswick Newspaper Vital Statistics database is based on almost a quarter-century of work by the late Danny Johnson. As chair of a group of members of the New Brunswick Genealogical Society, Dan began work on the vital statistics project in 1982 that led to the publication of a small volume titled New Brunswick Vital Statistics from Newspapers 1784-1815. They went on to produce four more similar volumes covering the years up to 1834; in effect, the first fifty years of newspapers in New Brunswick. The group wound up its work in 1985 but over the course of the next 20 years, Danny single-handedly continued this project extending the project to the year 1896 and producing a total of 102 volumes. The database is browsable by surname, and keyword searchable. Results are listed by name, with the name of the newspaper and date the article appeared. Clicking on the name brings up an abstraction of the announcement. Search the database at http://archives.gnb.ca/APPS/NewspaperVitalStats/.

Greetings All. FYI. The latest issue of 'Gordon Watts Reports' has now been posted online. It can be accessed at http://globalgenealogy.com/globalgazette/gazgw/gazgw-0092.htm Topics in this week's issue include: In Memorium - Ryan Taylor Images of Nova Scotia 1870 - 1940 British school children contest in 1900s Federal programs cut - Canada A lesson learned Readers of my column may also be interested in viewing the "featured web site" of the latest issue of the Global Gazette. This "featured web site" is the Halifax Explosion Remembrance Book -- a database listing of all those who died in the explosion that took place 6 December 1917. The Halifax Explosion Remembrance Book was originally developed in 2002 as a commemorative project sponsored by the Halifax Foundation and its chair, the late Edmund Morris, a former city mayor, to mark the 85th anniversary of the Halifax Explosion. The objective of the project, an exhibition of Nova Scotia Archives and Records Management, was to compile a definitive listing of the known dead from the disaster of 6 December 1917. Two end-products resulted: a fully searchable electronic database for extended research purposes; and an abbreviated, limited-edition version produced in paper format for general display and reference use. The database contains 1,950 names of the men, women and children known to have died either in the Explosion, in the days immediately after, or in the following months as a direct result of the events of 6 December. The supporting information provided in the database, fully referenced and sourced in this online version, was compiled by searching various records held at Nova Scotia Archives and Records Management. Read more about this project, and search the database, by clicking the "featured web site" link at http://globalgazette.net Gordon A. I think she was born in Bay du Vin, New Brunswick on Nov. 6, 1817. She died on Oct. 6, 1904. She was married to Robert Reinsburrow (Ransberry). They lived in Glenelg, New Brunswick. Margaret had a sister named Mary (born around 1825). I have already found Margaret Featherham Reinsburrow in the 1851 - 1901 census. I am looking for the names of her parents and where she was born. Also, any information on the Featherham family.
Looking for anyone who might know what the connection is between the following. Jane Grey LOBAN was born c1841 and was likely the daughter of John LOBAN of Chatham but John is living with his Mother and Sisters in 1851 and she is not listed there. She appears with her father and maiden aunts on the 1861 census. In 1871 John is gone and she is with her "old" maiden aunts. In 1881 (LDS version) she is found living with a William QUANN age 10 (she is 40 at this time). The LDS version does not give a relationship. In 1901 "Grey" is found living alone. In 1901 William QUANN and his wife Margaret are living alone but nearby other (distant) LOBAN family members. In 1911 William QUANN age 40 and his wife Margaret are living in Chatham and listed with them is Jane LOBAN. The relationship field is difficult to read but looks like " mature foster." I do have a little more information on Jane and the LOBAN family and would be willing to share with anyone who was interested. Debbie

As mentioned the other day, this list has just migrated to "Mailman," the new mailing list system at RootsWeb. Most changes will be hardly noticeable to you as a subscriber and fairly subtle, but the most obvious one will be to those of you who were subscribed in BOTH list mode as well as digest mode. Mailman does not support both modes to the same subscription address, so you are now subscribed only in list mode. If you want to subscribe to digest as well, then you will have to subscribe yourself using an alternate e-mail address. Those of you in ONLY list or digest mode are still subscribed as you were under the old system. Also, there is a brand new list just started for the purpose of asking questions and learning about the new system if you are interested in joining. I am a subscriber as well, but be forwarned that as you might expect it is VERY busy right now, so keep that in mind if you subscribe. You can send the usual "subscribe" message to: <mailto:[email protected]> [email protected] for list mode or <mailto:[email protected]> [email protected] for digest mode If you have any questions about the new system, that is the best place to ask them. You can also ask me off list if you wish, and I will always respond if I can, but please understand that even though I was one of the BETA testers, I am also learning the new system myself. David E. As many of you may already know, RootsWeb is in the transition phase of changing over to a brand new e-mail system called "Mailman," but what you did not know is that this list was supposed to make the migration to the new system today. We are now due to make the change tomorrow, with all 30,000 or so RW lists due to follow in stages over the next couple of weeks. From the standpoint of a subscriber, you will see little real difference in the mail because most of the procedures you are used to will be the same or very similar. As soon as the list has migrated to the new system, they will send me some information to forward to you that will include an online tutorial for you to use in learning what you need to know about the new system. I was one of the BETA testers for it so know a little about it, but rather than flood me with questions please give the tutorial a try first. If you write to me I will always try to respond, but please understand that I have a good number of lists that I am responsible for, so if you multiply that by several subscribers each then you can see why I say that I may or may not be able to respond to everyone. As mentioned above, we are scheduled now to make the change tomorrow sometime, so you will hear from me further as soon as it happens with some information to help you use the new system more effectively.
