I am searching for the children of Donald Buchanan who lived in Tabusintac around 1804. Can anyone help? Thanks, Ellen Astle
I have this Sinclair who married into the McIntosh Family and then came to Black River/Buctouche/Kent CO, NB, Canada. David MacIntosh [1790-1885] David was the fifth son of John & Euphemia MacIntosh. He was a carpenter in the hamlet of Bernera, Inverness-shire, Scotland, when he married Betsey Sinclair on 12 July 1816. Within weeks, the young couple had set sail for Canada. Below is the record of their marriage from the Old Parish Register of Glenelg, Scotland. Deedie [McIntosh ?] takes up the story: Elizabeth Sinclair, a girl of aristocratic birth, married David MacIntosh when she was only sixteen & came out from Scotland with the MacIntosh family. The ship was almost wrecked and they had a very bad passage, being four months on the way. The supply of water was very low. Elizabeth was pregnant & so deathly sick everyone on board ship was troubled about her. Two young sailors, who admired her beauty & refinement, dipped a table napkin in the dwindling water supply & brought it to her cabin for her to suck.
I saw the responce from Vincent Caissie for info on the NB. site.Could you possibly have ancestors listed in the 1871 census for St Bernard Parish by the name of Moissie Caissie Vincent? I have found my G-Grandfather listed as a lodger at their home and was curiouse to know about them. Thanks, Vincent, Don Beattie
Thanks much for the directions to get a pound sign. Sincerely, Don Beattie
To get a pound symbol hold down the ALT key and type 156 on the numeric keypad; when you release the ALT key the pound sign will appear--£ Can't help with the genealogy.
I'm new to the list and am looking for: Beattie, McIntosh, Clark/Clarke Families from the early/late 19th centuries. Does any one know when Northumberland and Kent split up as counties and what is the nature of these counties now vs. when the split up? Why did they split? Too many questions, but I have them. Last night I was looking at Land Transactions in Kent CO for the period 1842-46 and I found a link between John Angus McIntosh and his father Donald McIntosh of Wellington. Is this parish or was it near Black river and Buctouche? That was a triple decade of research coming together in order to link my great grandfather John with his father Donald. The link had always been conjectured by Ross Dickson and myself, but no real link until the document said that John sold 200 acres to his father Donald for 200 pounds (how does one make the pound sign on a regular keyboard?). I still think i tis quite a coincidence that a son is selling land to his father, eh? But, the document is a great one and I am thrilled. I just need to pinpoint Wellington where so many of these McIntoshes sold lands after originally getting land grants from thje crown. I saw Buctouche and the Black River in October 2002 but I did not know where Wellington Parish is/was. Sincerely, Donald W. Beattie Winthrop, Maine USA
Hi everyone! I'm new to this list. I need help re Angus Sinclair married to a Mary McLean. I am seeking information about the family of my mother Mary Pearl (Peg) Lyons (1903-1979). Her father was Thomas (?) Lyons of Chatham and her mother (name unknown) died in childbirth. Her father remarried to a member of the Jardine family of Chatham. She had one brother, Clifford. She married my father, John Blacklock in about 1936 and passed the rest of her life in Windsor, Ont. If you have any information about my mother's family, please contact me at johnblacklock50@hotmail.com John Lyons Blacklock _________________________________________________________________ MSN 8: advanced junk mail protection and 2 months FREE*. http://join.msn.com/?page=features/junkmail

In 1788 Henry McCullam acquired Lot 2 in Newcastle, 135 acres stretching in a northerly direction from where the approach to the Morrisey Bridge is now located (near 1 Jane St.) back to about the Chaplin Island & Beaverbrook Rds. intersection. The developing Town of Newcastle grew up on and around the southern end of Henry's lot, and we have even today streets which bear a distinctly MacCulliam name, in the old section of town, all of which are located on what was once Henry's property: Henry St. McCallum Blvd Jane St. (Henry had a daughter Jane, m. Wm. Davidson, Jr.) Mary St. (daughter Mary m. i] Hugh Hamill, & ii] Thomas Vondy, Sr.) Thomas St. ( a number of them; probably a brother, a nephew, and possibly a son) George St. (Henry has a son George) Ellen St. (The Ellen McCullam who married John McKenzie was probably Henry's daughter) My theory (or maybe just a wish) is that this is more than a coincidence and that somehow the names of Henry & his kin were memorialized by whoever got to name the streets. If so, it would go a long way towards establishing the fact that my g/g/g grandmother, Ellen, was Henry's daughter. Does anybody have, or know where I can find, information on the origin of street names in Newcastle? Many thanks, Jim MacKenzie
