    1. [CAN-NB-NOR] Benjamin Currant
    2. Marilyn Current
    3. A while back I was given the following information: >>There is an 1848 and 1850 census for some parts of Ontario. It is only a Head-of-the-family one. Listed is James A Curran in 1848 in Oxford tp, Grenville Co. There is a Benjamin Currant listed in 1848 and 1850 in Cramahe tp, Northumberland Co. << Can anyone locate more information for me concerning Benjamin? Is he in the 1851 or 1861 census? I have found a Wm. A. Currant in Saginaw County, MI, who was born in Canada, and whose children were also born in Canada. The eldest son was named Benjamin "Frank" Currant, so I thought perhaps this Benjamin may be William's father. Any help would be appreciated. thank you Marilyn Current of Michigan

    2. RE obituaries. Thanks, Dianne, for the excellent information. I'll be wanting to find my g g grandmother's obituary, Nancy Clark Beattie. She was the wife of John Baytie (Beattie). He was killed by a falling tree in 1834 according to an obutuary provided me by Valerie Bartlett, eh? I believe it came from The Gleander. I have his but not hers. She died in 1862 according to her grave stone in the Knox Cemetery in Kouchibouguac. Sincerely, Don Beattie in Maine USA.

    3. As far as I know The Gleaner is on microfilm at the provincial archives. There are microfilms of the old Miramichi Newspapers (The World, The Gleaner, The Mercury and possibly the North Shore Leader) at the Chatham Library on King Street, Miramichi where one can view these on their microfilm readers. With regards to obituaries the Miramichi Genealogy Society are in the process of typing any old obituaries of people born in Northumberland County they can obtain. If you have some you wish to contribute obituaries please contact me. Dianne Cemetery & Census Project Co-ordinator for the Miramichi

    1. [CAN-NB-NOR] Church location
    2. Bob Gulvin
    3. Hi List. I am trying to identify the name and location, of a church, which I believe, has been demolished. If memory serves correct, it was either a United Baptist or Zion church. Location was on Howard's Road. This small highway begins in Upper Blackviille, No.Co. and parallels The Miramichi River, re-joining the highway outside of Blackville. Howard's was/is, a hamlet/village, on that route. If anyone can identify the church, my next question is, where would the church records be held? Further, has anyone listed the MI's? TIA Laurette Gulvin nee Arbeau.

    2. Sharyn Hay
    3. This is an administrative message and any replies should be sent to the administrator, not the list. This topic is NOT open for discussion on the list. There is much activity right now of a variant of the SOBIG virus. The virus finds email addresses from your computer and sends itself to other computers. Someone with the list request address on their computer has this virus. Since these are both small lists, chances are good that the person receives the list or digest. Please check that your anti-virus software is updated frequently, at least three times a week! The virus places a file on your computer named WINPPR32.EXE .
