    2. Mary Joan (Hanley) DICKIE Age 81, Born February 17th, 1924 in Chatham, New Brunswick to Sylvester and Elizabeth Hanley; passed away peacefully on August 11th 2005 in Lynnwood,Washington. Joan enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force and served from 1943 to 1945. She married fellow serviceman Lt. Arthur Dickie on November 9th 1946 in Moncton, New Brunswick and they immigrated to Seattle, WA in 1954 with their three children. Joan was a devoted wife of 46 years, a loving, caring mother and a beloved aunt and caregiver. She supported third world children, was an advocate for animal rights, and an accomplished baker. Joan's spiritual life was guided by her strong belief in the teachings of the Catholic Church. Joan was preceded in death by her beloved husband Arthur, her brother Raymond Sr., and her sisiter Evelyn Conlon. She is survived by her sons Sherwood (wife Mary Ann), Brian (wife Eleanor) and Keith (wife Kathie), her grandchildren Tonya (husband Todd), Bernadette, Jennifer (husband Ruben), Aaron, Alison, and Trevor, her greatgranchildren Ty and Leila, her nephews Raymond Jr., and Tom, and her nieces Patricia, Ellen , Nancy and Cathy. We will miss her presence, her wisdom, her wealth of knowledge, her lifeline to generations of family past, her unique sense of humor and most of all, her delicious butter raisin tarts. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday August 18th at St Marks CAtholic Church, 18033 15th PL. NE, Shoreline, Washington 98155. Viewing will be held in Sullivan Hall at St. Marks from 1:15pm to 1:45pm on the same day. In Lieu of flowers , the family suggests memorials to PAWS. (No mention here about burial) Their is a photo of this gal in her military uniform attached to this obit, that was published in the local paper of "The Seattle Times". I thought this might be of some interest to our fellow researchers. Take care, Colleen Donnelly-Tandiama

    3. To all those interested The Northumberland County Death Register Index has indeed been added to the cumulative index RS141 at the PANB website. It is part of the RS141C1 series, which continues to be indexed. A more complete abstract of the contents of the register are held in book form at the library by the Miramichi Branch Genealogy Society. Unfortunately, as Alison and Cathy have pointed out, there are a large number of deaths that simply were not registered, so are not included in the index. Interestingly enough, there were individuals who were entered more than once. Also, some deaths may have been registered but, for some reason, were not entered into the County Register books. One should also try to check the Provincial Returns of Death because some of the information may have been forwarded to Fredericton before the county clerk entered it into the County Register book. The years vary somewhat but this series is also being indexed with the cumulative index. You may still need to rely on cemetery, burial or church records to locate your person of interest if they were "apparently" not registered. When at the PANB site RS141 search page click on the "information" at the top of the page. You will find a description of the various series that make up the index. Regards, Michelle Falkjar

You can find it at The National Archives of Canada. They have a web site and you can search in the 3 Blackville districts. It seems like alot of work but it most rewarding. It's best if you do it so you can see what you are familiar with in the family. I was in N. B. last week and took many photos (5 rolls) at the various cemeteries in Doaktown and than 2 cemeteries each for Ludlow and Blackville. I have several Vickers because that is in my line. Mary Francis (Vickers)Beek. Too many John's, James, Thomas, Martin, Mary's, Ann's. It's hard too follow. Anyway I did find a Mary in the 1911 census 70 years old living with her son Martin born 1871 and his wife Hannah b1881. In Sub District 7 Page 8.
