    3. I am trying to determine the birthplace of Phillip LeGALLEY (also spelled LEGALLY/LeGALLY or GALLEY) He married Rosanna BLACK on October 30, 1843 @ Bathurst, NB. They had 6 children that I know of, 2 of which were Baptised at Cathedrale St. Michel, Chatham, NB. Any assistance would be most appreciated. Dennis Galley, Port Elgin, Ontario

    1. [Gloucester Co NB] GALLEY/LE GALLY of Caraquet Parish
    2. Dennis Galley
    3. Good Morning: I am looking for information on the family of Phillip Le GALLEY and Rosanna BLACK, who were married on October 30, 1843 @ Bathurst, NB ? The marriage register indicates that they were both "of the Parish of Caraquet". They resided in Newcastle from 1861 until Phillip's death in 1879. They had 6 children, born between 1846 and 1869. I have found 2 baptisms - in 1870 and 1871, both @ Chatham, NB. The 1861 census for Newcastle indicates that Phillip LEGALLY was born in 1798 in Canada, while the 1871 census for Newcastle indicates that Phillip GALLEY was born in 1804 in England. The family alternates in the surname spelling over the years from GALLEY to LE GALLY to LEGALLY. I would like to find out where and when Phillip was actually born - was it England or Canada? Also, I would like to know which surname spelling is correct. Any information would be most appreciated. Dennis Galley, Port Elgin, ON

    1. [Gloucester Co NB] Ghost Town mail list
    2. Dittmar, Frederick M.
    3. Since I wrote on the 11th I have been busy, In reviewing the mail lists of Canada I noticed one list lacking from each Province (except ONT) and that was a mail list of the Ghost towns. I have now started a Ghosttown mail list for each Province and Territory in Canada. This list is for the study and researching the Town Names, Residents, History and Locations of abandoned towns that your ancestors lived in. Go to Rootsweb and subscribe to the Ghosttown list in the Province or Territory that you have a genealogical interested in and talking about these old and abandoned towns and outposts.
