    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Crocker Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/wNC.2ACE/1078.2.2.1.1 Message Board Post: Marcie Crocker, Fred Crocker of Michigan, descendant of the Newcastle Crockers, wrote to the city clerk of Upper Stewiacke NS in the early 1970’s and enquired if there were any Crockers still living in the area and if there were any community records pertaining to the Crocker family . He was put in touch with two Crocker brothers, bachelors that still lived in the Stewiacke area. This is their story which Fred related word for word. Dear Sir, I am writing you some information that might interest you regarding the Crockers. In 1922 I was working in a summer resort 25 miles from Boston. I met an old lady whose father was a Crocker. Her name was Mrs. Strickland and this is what she told me. Her ancestors came from Scotland to Ireland. She had the tartan of the clan. Her great grandfather came to the US and settled around Cape Cod. He had seven sons. Three of them went to New Brunswick with the loyalists during the revolution. Their names were Thomas, Andrew and Elijah. I came home that fall and went to see Walter Crocker and told him this story. This is his story. Three brothers came to St. John, NB around 1767 or 1768. Their names were Thomas, Andrew and Elijah. Andrew settled around Moncton, NB and was his great grand father. His ancestors could be traced right down to that time. Thomas and Elijah went to nova Scotia and were lost track of. Thomas came to Londderry, NS on the north side of Coquid bay and married a Dickie. They had three sons and five daughters. Elijah went to Digby, NS where you find a lot of Crockers. Signed, William Crocker PS The church records of Upper Stewiacke were destroyed by fire, so I can’t find anything there. We are going to try the vital statistics in Halifax to see whose son your great grandfather was. I don’t know how far the records go back. Marcie, Does anything in the above correspondence suggest a possible connection between the two Crocker lines.
