I would very much like to find out how long Calvin KIDDER (1765-1799) .. lived in Nova Scotia/New Brunswick. He left New Ipswich and Temple, NH, around 1785, and probably headed to Canada .. He was, reportedly, not .. a Loyalist .. but may have traveled with them .. at Age 20. Researchers have no idea how he spent the years 1785 to 1795 (etc.).. In 1798, he married in St. Andrews, NB. He married Miss or Mrs. Mary Mercy GREENLAW. So far it seems that Calvin KIDDER was a homeowner and part-owner of a sawmill .. in (then) Schoodiac (now: St. Stephen, NB) .. probably after 1795 (not sure) .. (Harmony Sawmill on Schoodiac River) ... Calvin sold the part-ownership of the Sawmill around the time he married. In January 1799, in St. Stephen, NB, Calvin and Mary Kidder had their son, J. Calvin Kidder. (now known to be .. probably .. James Calvin Kidder) Not 3 weeks later, Calvin was killed in a mailboat accident in the (now) St. Croix River heading into the Bay. We have no idea whatsoever .. what happened to his widow, Mrs. Mary Kidder, and her infant son. ...... I am wondering if she re-married .. using her maiden name .. Mary GREENLAW ... in the 1799-1805 time period. The next we hear from the boy .. "Calvin" Kidder .. he is 18 and signing papers in regards to property in St. Stephen. Around Age 30 he moved to Calais, ME, and at Age 34, he married Mary Jane WILKINS, in Amity, ME (daughter of Samuel WILKINS). (Also looking for information on Mary Jane's brother, George Freeman Wilkins, who moved his family to NB in the 1850's .. George and Mary Wilkins probably had 10 children. (York County, NB)
