    1. [CAN-NB-CHARLOTTE] Update to St. George, NB Parish Page
    2. Charlene Beney
    3. I have updated the Historical Pictures page with photos donated by Patrick Howard of the interior of the St. George Pulp and Paper Company, taken by his father abt. 1946. Thank you, Mr. Howard. I have also made up a page of the exterior of the same company. If you see a picture that doesn't belong there, let me know. I am not that familiar with the mill and I could have gotten a picture in there that should be elsewhere :-). I have also updated the St. George Rural Cemetery-New, line 10 on the Churches and Cemeteries page with obits; Munroe, Lloyd Leavitt, Audella, and McGee, Ronald I also tried to put a link to the http://www.ourroots.ca/ site because it has a lot of good New Brunswick books on-line. One is called "A Historical and Statistical Account of New Brunswick, B. N.A." Chapter 2 is about the Falls and Mills of St. George, NB. Unfortunately, it did not seem to work. But check it out...and thank you to Rob Fisher for pointing it out. I have been spending a lot of time there, great stuff. Any errors please e-mail me... Surnames: Kidder Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/wNC.2ACE/1144.1.1 Message Board Post: Hi Beau, I have been researching my KIDDER family tree for over 8 years. And, I thought I would let you know that .. three.. Kidder brothers .. moved to New Ipswich around 1750 in order to help found that town. They moved from .. Westford, MA, (originally part of Chelmsford, MA) and were the sons of Thomas Kidder. Reuben's two brothers were Aaron Kidder and Joseph Kidder. Aaron also stayed in New Ipswich, but he died at Age 50. Joseph was my ancestor. He moved his family to the next town, Temple, NH. Calvin was one of his younger children. (Off the top of my head, the 3 brothers had over 30 children, and MANY .. descendants.) I have a Xerox copy of some of the pages out of the "History of New Ipswich, NH" which describe the Kidder's. But, I might not have read .. all .. the information, because I don't remember reading about his "politics." I have access to the "Kidder family history book" ("Descendants of Ensign James Kidder (1626-1676) of Cambridge and Billerica, MA,....") .. .. My line goes: James, John, Thomas, Joseph, Calvin, J. Calvin, Joseph, G. Sanford, Clinton, Clinton. (John Kidder was a large landowner in Chelmsford, MA.) (I live in this area.)

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/wNC.2ACE/1144.1 Message Board Post: I have a record of a REUBEN KIDDER, of New Ipswich, N.H. who was the "richest man in town and at the Revolutionary era had done more than any other man to promote its growth and prosperity...He refused to acknowledge the Whig Government of the State, but remained upon his estate without molestation. Though opposed to the Revolution, he still paid taxes levied upon his property, and thus lost nothing but his influence and popularity. He died at New Ipswich, in 1793, aged seventy." I don't know without further research whether Calvin was a son or grandson...but it would appear highly probable, at minimum, that he was related in some manner. Reuben was obviously a "loyalist" to the extent that he did not approve of the "new government." Calvin may have shared similar feelings and stayed in N.H. as a teenager until he approached marrying age and saw economic opportunity in the new Province of New Brunswick. Beau Chapman Genealogist

    1. [CAN-NB-CHARLOTTE] ..KIDDER ... (Calvin Kidder .. in NS/NB 1785--1799)
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Kidder, Greenlaw, Wilkins Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/wNC.2ACE/1144 Message Board Post: Hello .. I would very much like to find out how long Calvin KIDDER (1765-1799) .. lived in Nova Scotia/New Brunswick. He left New Ipswich and Temple, NH, around 1785, and probably headed to Canada .. He was, reportedly, not .. a Loyalist .. but may have traveled with them .. at Age 20. Researchers have no idea how he spent the years 1785 to 1795 (etc.).. In 1798, he married in St. Andrews, NB. He married Miss or Mrs. Mary Mercy GREENLAW. So far it seems that Calvin KIDDER was a homeowner and part-owner of a sawmill .. in (then) Schoodiac (now: St. Stephen, NB) .. probably after 1795 (not sure) .. (Harmony Sawmill on Schoodiac River) ... Calvin sold the part-ownership of the Sawmill around the time he married. In January 1799, in St. Stephen, NB, Calvin and Mary Kidder had their son, J. Calvin Kidder. (now known to be .. probably .. James Calvin Kidder) Not 3 weeks later, Calvin was killed in a mailboat accident in the (now) St. Croix River heading into the Bay. We have no idea whatsoever .. what happened to his widow, Mrs. Mary Kidder, and her infant son. ...... I am wondering if she re-married .. using her maiden name .. Mary GREENLAW ... in the 1799-1805 time period. The next we hear from the boy .. "Calvin" Kidder .. he is 18 and signing papers in regards to property in St. Stephen. Around Age 30 he moved to Calais, ME, and at Age 34, he married Mary Jane WILKINS, in Amity, ME (daughter of Samuel WILKINS). (Also looking for information on Mary Jane's brother, George Freeman Wilkins, who moved his family to NB in the 1850's .. George and Mary Wilkins probably had 10 children. (York County, NB)
