    1. [CAN-NB-CHARLOTTE] Maple Leaf Project
    2. MS
    3. Hi Listers, I've just loaded a new page on the Charlotte County GenWeb site having to do with the Maple Leaf Project.....For Canada, For Canadians, For the Fallen, Lest We Forget. "The aim of the Maple Leaf Legacy Project is to photograph or obtain a photograph of every Canadian War Grave of the 20th Century These photos will be made freely available on the project's web site. Most of the families and friends of Canada's war dead have never visited and will never visit the graves of the fallen due to the distances and expenses involved. We cannot bring their bodies home for burial but we can bring photos of the graves into the homes of all Canadians. In doing so we will create a virtual Canadian National War Cemetery." Information on Charlotte County, NB Graves is available at: http://www.rootsweb.com/~nbcharlo/MapleLeaf/mlindex.htm Information on the Worldwide Project is available at http://www.mllp.demon.co.uk/ Marilyn

    1. [CAN-NB-CHARLOTTE] Look-up of NB Vital Records 1840-1851 -TRETHEWEY/TRETHEWAY
    2. George W. Page
    3. I am seeking vital statistic (and any other available) info on members of the subject family that immigrated from Cornwall (via Devon?), Eng. to New Brunswick after the 1841 Cornwall census. The family consisted of William & Elizabeth (GILL) TRETHEWEY plus some of their children (Amelia, John, and Fanny). They had a daughter Elizabeth ("Libbie") who was b. in (NB?) Canada between 1845-1848. Their daughter Fanny d. in NB about 1849. By 1851 they were in Michigan. He was a carpenter by profession. While visiting Nova Scotia I searched the "Nova Scotia Vital Statistics from Newspapers" (Vol. 10, 11, & 12) for the years 1840-1851 with negative results. These volumes were published by the Genealogical Association of Nova Scotia in 1985-1987, so I am hoping that a similar publication exists for the Provence of New Brunswick. Thank you, George W. She is buried in the Scotch Ridge Cemetery (d. 1849). Do you have any probabilities for who her parents might have been? Thank you for your time. Robin

I checked the site's 1871 census and the Blair family name is not listed. I assume that they either moved to the area or the parish between 1871 and 1881. Do you have a date of marriage?

    1. [CAN-NB-CHARLOTTE] Tombstone Photos
    2. MS
    3. Hi Listers, If anyone is travelling to Charlotte County New Brunswick for research this summer, and you happen to take photos of tombstones, I would really love to have a copy, so that we can put them on the web site. Digital photos or scanned images work. In particular I'm looking for photos from the Deer Island cemeteries and anything down in St. Andrews. When I visited back in May I took photos of ALL stones that I could find in St. Croix parish so watch for those during the coming months. I also got many photos out in Dumbarton at the Baptist Cemetery, United Cemetery and Roman Catholic Cemetery. In St. David Parish I got some at the Heritage Cemetery, Oak Bay Cemetery, Upper St. David Ridge and Oak Bay Anglican. in St. james Parish photos fr Moore Mills Cemetery and Extension will be forthcoming. Finally, there will be a major update of photos to St. Stephen Rural. So keep your eyes peeled! Meanwhile, I'm sure I speak for other County GenWeb Coordinators throughout New Brunswick . . we'd love to have tombstone photos from your genealogy trips this summer. Thanks, Marilyn Maxwell Strout ------------ Marilyn
